Records at the Lam River dike section through Phu Hau hamlet on the morning of July 24 show that local authorities and residents are making efforts to deploy plans to rescue the herd of cows isolated on the floating beach. However, the situation is extremely difficult as the road from the dike to the beach has been cut off by floodwaters, the current is strong, and there is a great risk of insecurity if one tries to cross.

Ms. Le Thi Huong, a resident of Phu Hau hamlet, worriedly said: “My family has a beef cow that has been stuck in the field since yesterday afternoon. Now we can only rely on the government for help, because if the water rises further, the risk of it being swept away is very high.”

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Nga - Chairman of Dai Dong Commune People's Committee, although the local government had previously informed the people that the flood water on Lam River would rise during this time, so that people could proactively take measures to ensure their property and livestock. However, some people were still subjective, causing 23 cows of the people to be stuck on the Lam River floating sandbank.

The authorities mobilized four boats and local people to herd the cows back to shore, but were unsuccessful due to deep and fast-flowing water conditions. The commune has instructed rescuers to wear life jackets to ensure absolute safety for the people.

"Currently, the Lam River water level is less than 1 meter from the highest point of the floating area. If we do not rescue them promptly, the entire herd of cows could be submerged in floodwaters," said Mr. Nga.
