On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Museum of Fine Arts organizes the art exhibition "Children of the Fatherland."

The exhibition recreates part of the struggle to protect the country's independence and freedom, through portraits, statues, paintings, woodcuts... of soldiers and guerrillas.

80 paintings have been selected for display, created in the period from resistance art to renovation and modernity, from 1947 to 1986.

These are the portraits of Deputy Commander Nguyen Thi Dinh (sculptor Diep Minh Chau), Nguyen Van Troi (author Hoang Dao Khanh), doctor Ton That Tung in the painting "Surgery in the basement of Viet Duc hospital" (artist Van Duong Thanh)...

Besides, there are countless simple examples who have devoted themselves to the cause of national liberation and country building, including those without specific names but who are strong and brave, such as the brave soldier Nguyen Tien Hieu who transported wounded soldiers and supplied ammunition (artist Nguyen Van Chung), the painting " "Cu Chi female guerrillas" (artist Huynh Phuong Dong), "Female militia on the wreckage of an American plane" (sculptor Le Cong Thanh)...

The exhibition also features paintings and sketches by martyrs who are also artists; little-known sketches by great artists such as Nguyen Sang, Phan Ke An...

"They are the children of the Fatherland, who have silently devoted their youth, strength and blood to protect and build the country through works of art. They have contributed to writing the heroic history of the nation, and are role models for today's generation" - said Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh - Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

The exhibition "Children of the Fatherland" lasts from August 15 to September 10.
