Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee visits war invalids and meritorious people

On the afternoon of July 22, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, as head of the Central working delegation visited and presented gifts to the Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and Meritorious People (Ho Chi Minh City), on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).

Visiting the Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and People with Meritorious Services, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen shared that on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, in recent days, delegations of leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front have visited localities to visit and present gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and families with meritorious services to the country.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee sent his regards and deep gratitude to war invalids, sick soldiers, and meritorious people - those with extraordinary determination to overcome illness, wounds left by war, and difficulties in life.

He also expressed his gratitude to the families and relatives of the wounded and sick soldiers and the medical team of the center for sharing their hardships, supporting and sharing so that the comrades could firmly overcome their illnesses and the pain caused by their wounds.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed that war invalids, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services are a great source of encouragement and motivation for today's generation to continue to contribute, build and protect the Fatherland. Today's generation always remembers and is grateful to previous generations who have contributed, sacrificed and contributed their blood and bones so that our country can have the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it is today.

Emphasizing that the country is changing every day, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee hopes that war invalids, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services will continue to overcome difficulties and illnesses to continue to live happily and healthily and join the country in entering the era of national development.

“Today’s next generation always reminds themselves to continue living, fighting, working, and studying following the example of Uncle Ho and previous generations, to forever be worthy of the moral tradition of remembering the source of water when drinking water,” comrade Nguyen Van Nen shared and emphasized, resolutely fighting against bad habits, corruption, and negativity. Each person must act and do good deeds, spreading positive energy to contribute to building a better society.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee asked the team of doctors, officers and staff of the Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and People with Meritorious Services to continue to provide better care for war invalids, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services.

Ho Chi Minh City will pay more attention to investing and creating more favorable conditions for the center to perform its functions and tasks well, and provide more complete care so that war invalids, sick soldiers, and meritorious people can have a better and more comfortable living environment and space.

Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and Meritorious People was established in 1977. It is the only nursing center for war invalids in the South under the Department of Meritorious People, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dr. Tong Duc Binh, Director of the Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and People with Meritorious Services, said that the center is nurturing and providing rehabilitation treatment for 31 war invalids from 12 provinces and cities across the country and managing the health and providing initial medical examination and treatment for 14 war invalids from Ho Chi Minh City.

The typical injuries of the wounded soldiers at the center are mostly spinal injuries that cause complete paralysis of both legs, forcing them to sit in wheelchairs, causing diseases such as sphincter disorders, body ulcers, urinary tract infections, and some wounded soldiers have chest injuries, abdominal injuries, amputations, and gunshot wounds that completely damage both eyes.

“When the weather changes, old wounds recur, and the wounded soldiers have to endure the pain again. However, with all the resilience of a soldier, with the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, the wounded soldiers of the center always try to overcome themselves to overcome their injuries and illnesses, always being an example for their children to follow, true to Uncle Ho’s saying: Wounded soldiers are disabled but not useless”, shared Dr. Tong Duc Binh.
