Specifically, pregnant woman MTM (33 years old), in Cam Vu village, Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri province, was 35 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with placenta accreta Percreta - the most dangerous obstetric complication, which can cause massive bleeding, threatening the lives of both mother and baby.

To ensure the safety of both mother and child, on July 3, 2025, Ms. M. was scheduled for an active surgery. The surgery was carefully prepared with the coordination of many specialties. After more than 1 hour, the surgery was successfully performed, bringing joy to the medical team and family.

Dr. Tran Dinh Luc, Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Provincial General Hospital, said that placenta accreta is a condition in which part or all of the placenta invades and does not separate from the uterine wall after childbirth. Normally, the placenta will detach from the uterine wall after the mother gives birth. The placenta is then expelled.

However, when a pregnant woman has placenta accreta, the placenta cannot separate from the uterine wall but adheres tightly to the uterine muscles, even invading neighboring organs. This is the cause of postpartum hemorrhage, postoperative infection... even death in pregnant women.

In Percreta, the placenta invades through the myometrium into the uterine wall, even invading neighboring organs such as the bowel and bladder. Although Percreta is the least common, accounting for only about 5% of all cases, it is the most severe.
