Today, April 3, the Ministry of Health announced the decision to recognize Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Thu Huong as the new chairwoman of the Hanoi Medical University Council, replacing Professor, Dr. Ta Thanh Van who has retired.
According to information from Hanoi Medical University, Ms. Huong graduated from this school in 1995, received her master's degree in Belgium in 2004 and received her doctorate in public health in 2013. She received the title of Associate Professor in 2017.
With over 30 years of experience in the medical field, Associate Professor Huong has also made many contributions to implementing HIV/AIDS prevention programs. She is a member of the team that developed guidelines on PrEP (HIV prevention treatment) for the World Health Organization.
At the same time, HIV/AIDS prevention programs have also been effective, such as reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission from 30% to below 1.9%, and the number of new HIV infections has decreased by 60% compared to 2010...
At the announcement ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan assessed Hanoi Medical University as the leading training and scientific research unit in the industry, with 123 years of history. Currently, the school-institute model (within Hanoi Medical University, there is Hanoi Medical University Hospital) is developing well, has high prestige, and meets the needs of medical examination and treatment of the people.
In the coming period, Ms. Lan said that the school development project until 2030, with a vision to 2050, expected to be approved by the Government this month, will build Hanoi Medical University into a key national university, playing a leading role in the health sector.
