The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project (Project) is a national key energy project, assigned by the Prime Minister to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) as the investor, Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) as the investor representative, with the goal of enhancing the safe and stable operation of the national power system, releasing the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces.
The project has a total investment of more than 7,410 billion VND, starting at Lao Cai 500kV Transformer Station (TSS) and ending at Vinh Yen 500kV Transformer Station (TSS). The project passes through 31 communes in Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces with a total length of 229.5km and 462 column foundation locations. Currently, the construction sites are being urgently implemented.
As of August 11, the pole erection work has been completed at 326/468 pole positions (69.66%), 141/468 positions (30.13%) are being transported, assembled and erected; 28/242 anchor intervals (11.57%) have been completed, 37/242 anchor intervals (15.29%) are being pulled, and 177/242 anchor intervals (73.14%) have not yet been constructed.
VT404 column location has been completed and the wire pulling project is underway.

Location of pole VT369 - one of two poles crossing Lo River (along with pole VT370), located in Dan Chu commune (Phu Tho province), 130m high, weighing 360 tons, has been completed and is preparing for wire pulling.
VT369 column location is under construction to prepare for wire pulling.
Location 369 is currently performing work such as installing insulators, construction scaffolding... to prepare for wire pulling.
The project has a large construction volume, short construction time, mountainous terrain, high and rugged terrain, especially, the weather in the months of May, June and July (peak construction months) in Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces often had intense heat, heavy rain, thunderstorms, causing construction work to be temporarily suspended to ensure safety and overcome the effects of storms.
In addition, the contractor's workforce was not sufficient to meet the project's needs under the conditions of high construction intensity, short time and simultaneous implementation of many tasks. EVN mobilized additional support forces from units in the industry with nearly 1,000 officers and employees, from Military Region 2 with more than 200 officers, soldiers and a number of youth union members.
Currently, workers and support forces are working hard day and night to urgently construct the 500kV Lao Cai-Vinh Yen transmission line.
