The bank is proactively phasing out single-use plastic products, replacing them with environmentally friendly materials such as paper cups, bamboo straws and cloth bags.
Start your green journey from within
As a key bank in agricultural and rural development, Agribank considers greening internal operations as the foundation for implementing ESG criteria, especially in the Environment pillar (E – Environment). The action program for the period 2025 - 2026 is built on the ESG Standards 2024 - 2030, in line with Vietnam's Green Growth Strategy, circular economy goals and net emission reduction commitment.
Over the years, the bank has implemented many solutions such as saving electricity, water, paper, reducing single-use plastic waste, piloting Green Transaction Points, etc., bringing positive results. However, most of the content in this program is a new, synchronous and systematic implementation step, aiming for comprehensive change from within.
Agribank promotes digitalization of office processes, using digital signatures, storing electronic records, and sending documents via email instead of printing. The bank applies double-sided printing by default and uses QR codes in meetings, significantly reducing paper consumption, saving costs, and contributing to forest protection.
At branches, the campaign "Say no to single-use plastic waste" is being implemented. The bank replaces plastic bottles with glass bottles, bamboo straws, and cloth bags, sending a message about environmental protection and encouraging the community to join hands to reduce plastic waste.
At the same time, energy and water saving solutions are emphasized. Agribank installs energy-saving LED lights, light sensors to take advantage of natural light, uses sensor faucets and periodically checks for leaks. The bank researches the reuse of gray water for auxiliary purposes, demonstrating scientific and sustainable resource management.
The "Transaction Point" model was deployed to leave a positive impression on customers.
Waste management and green lifestyle building
Recognizing the impact of vehicle emissions on the environment, Agribank proposed supporting buses to transport employees and encouraged the use of bicycles or electric vehicles. The fleet of official vehicles is optimized for routes and fuel, aiming to switch to energy-saving vehicles, contributing to reducing air pollution in urban areas.
The bank implements waste sorting at source, arranges waste sorting bins with visual instructions, processes wastewater according to standards and conducts periodic inspections. The program aims to unify the entire system's processes to improve efficiency.
The difference is in building a green lifestyle from the roots. Agribank organizes training, seminars, and internal communications to raise awareness. Movements such as "For a Green Future", "Green Travel Day", and "Green Living Challenge" create a competitive atmosphere throughout the system.
The models of "Green Transaction Point" and "Green Office" are widely deployed. Green criteria are integrated into the emulation and reward system, creating motivation for officers and employees. The implementation process is monitored, periodically reported, the results are made public and effective models are rewarded.
Many green campaigns conducted by Agribank have brought positive meaning to the environment.
The program is a step to concretize ESG commitments and national strategies. This is a practical implementation of the ESG Standards 2024 - 2030, linked to Vietnam's Green Growth Strategy and greenhouse gas emission reduction plan.
Proactively meeting green criteria helps Agribank enhance brand reputation, increase competitiveness, and stay ahead of strict global standards. At the same time, integrating green criteria into competitions and rewards will shape the awareness and behavior of staff, turning green culture into a sustainable habit.
Social and environmental impacts will be evident when the program is implemented synchronously: reducing emissions, saving resources, improving the living environment and promoting green consumption and investment.
