An Khanh Thermal Power Plant: Source of light and courage

An Khanh I becomes the first large-capacity thermal power plant invested by the private sector in Vietnam.

Affirming the pioneering role

In July 2015, An Khanh I Thermal Power Plant officially connected to the national grid, despite initial doubts about the “capital-intensive, high-risk” Group A project. The past 10 years have proven the opposite: An Khanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company operates stably and effectively, contributing to ensuring energy security and promoting the socio -economic development of Thai Nguyen.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the Company's industrial production value reached 725 billion VND, completing 100% of the plan; trade and service revenue reached 1,240 billion VND, up 3.3% over the same period, contributing 161 billion VND to the budget. With 2 units with a total capacity of 120MW, An Khanh I is the first large-capacity thermal power plant invested by the private sector in Vietnam, operating durably, applying modern and environmentally friendly technology.

From 2023, An Khanh will experiment with biomass blending to reduce dependence on coal, a strategic move as Vietnam commits to achieving “zero” net emissions by 2050. In the 2025-2030 period, the Company will maintain efficient coal power production while expanding to renewable energy such as wind power and rooftop solar power in industrial parks. This is a testament to the long-term development mindset of maintaining today’s light sources, in line with the “greening” trend of the future.

Social responsibility, community sharing

An Khanh Thermal Power Plant not only ensures the capacity required by the National Power System, but also actively participates in social security, accompanying workers and the local community. Currently, the enterprise creates regular jobs for more than 500 workers, most of whom are local, with a stable income, an average of 10.3 million VND/month.

The Company and the Trade Union focus on taking care of the health and life of employees. All employees receive regular health check-ups and occupational disease screening. At the same time, the cancer screening program is extended to people around the factory, contributing to improving the quality of life of the community.

An Khanh's charity and social security work is always focused on and maintained consistently. On average, each year, the company spends about 2 billion VND to support poor students, build charity houses and support funds for the poor. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the Company spent more than 500 million VND on social programs.

Businesses define success not only based on profit, a necessary but not sufficient goal, but also on long-term contributions to the community and society. Social responsibility is a manifestation of humanity, self-respect and trust, closely linked to the prestige and reputation of the business.

Energy business - environmental model

At An Khanh Thermal Power Plant, environmental protection is always a top priority. The company invested in a misting system to suppress dust, signed a contract to recycle ash and slag into construction materials, and continuously greened the large campus. In the first half of 2025 alone, more than 1,500 trees were planted, contributing to creating a clean and beautiful landscape while improving the quality of the surrounding environment.

Labor safety and fire prevention and fighting are strictly implemented, ensuring a safe working environment for employees; at the same time, strengthening the image of a responsible, professional and exemplary private energy enterprise. The company's slogan is: "Every day is a joy when leaving safely after work".

An Khanh pursues a dual goal: maintaining stable operations, ensuring energy security and at the same time promoting green transformation. The company continues to invest in environmental treatment technology, expanding ash and slag recycling, increasing green areas and testing biomass blending, aiming for sustainable and environmentally friendly power generation. The enterprise strives to become a model private energy model, both maintaining the role of a "light source" for Thai Nguyen's socio-economy and contributing to the country's commitment to reducing emissions, towards green and sustainable energy.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of An Khanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of Labor in the renovation period. With outstanding production and business achievements, An Khanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company was honored to receive many Certificates of Merit and Excellent Emulation Flags from the Prime Minister, ministries and Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee; and was awarded the Second and Third Class Labor Medals by the President . The Vietnam Energy Association commended it as an "Enterprise for the cause of sustainable development of Vietnam's energy".
