37 teams participate in the Hanoi High School Band and Music Festival

NDO - On the afternoon of April 14, at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of the second Hanoi High School Band and Music Group Festival in 2025 with the theme "Building Happy Schools".

This is the second time the festival has been held, following the success of the first one in 2023, with the aim of promoting students' passion and artistic talent.

The festival is not only a meaningful activity, but also an opportunity for students to exchange and learn from each other, contributing to creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere in schools; at the same time, promoting the building of a healthy cultural environment in educational institutions, meeting the comprehensive educational requirements for high school students.

The festival is also a useful playground for students with musical talent and passion; contributing to discovering and nurturing artistic talents in the capital according to the orientation of the 2018 General Education Program. Thereby, contributing to promoting the image of Hanoi students as dynamic, creative, and rich in traditional cultural identity.

The festival is open to high school students currently studying at public and private schools, vocational and continuing education centers, and international schools. Students participating must meet the requirements of average or higher academic performance and good or better conduct in the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year.

The organizers said that this year's festival has 37 teams from 37 high schools participating, an increase of 3 teams compared to the first festival.

A notable new feature of this year’s festival is the participation of international students and visually impaired students. In addition, the sound and lighting systems have been invested in more elaborately and modernly, creating conditions for bands and musical groups to show their talents.

In particular, the organizing committee has expanded the award system to encourage and motivate students with a passion for music. The total number of awards presented at this festival is 28, an increase of 21 awards compared to the first time.

In his opening speech, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that the festival is part of a series of activities to establish targets and criteria to propose UNESCO to recognize Hanoi as a learning city in the global network of cities.

"We are always aware of the importance of comprehensive development for students, not only in terms of knowledge but also in terms of skills, talents and spiritual life. The festival of bands and music groups for high school students in Hanoi is a clear demonstration of the investment of the education and training sector in creating healthy and useful playgrounds to help students develop their potential," said Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training suggested that schools and educational institutions in the city should pay more attention to cultural, sports, and fine arts education, especially music; develop specific plans to bring music closer to students and create conditions for bands and music groups to participate, practice, and perform inside and outside of schools.

The second festival of bands and music groups for high school students in Hanoi is organized in 2 rounds: The preliminary round takes place from April 14 to 16. In this round, each band and music group will perform two consecutive works in the genres of ensemble and accompaniment.

The final round is scheduled to take place at 8:00 p.m. on April 28. In this round, each band or group will perform two consecutive works, of which at least one must be a new work, not overlapping with the work performed in the preliminary round.

The Final Round will be broadcast live on channel H1 of Hanoi Radio and Television, and streamed online on the digital platforms of schools in the city.
