HCMC: Increase bus fares for some trips by no more than 40%
At Mien Tay Bus Station (HCMC), it is forecasted that passengers will increase by more than 7% and vehicles will increase by more than 5% compared to the same period in 2024. The peak day is determined to be Saturday (August 30), with the number of departing passengers possibly reaching 65,500 people and 2,250 departing vehicles.
Regarding ticket prices, transport units can adjust the increase to compensate for the cost of turning around the vehicle, such as routes in the Mekong Delta region can adjust the price increase by no more than 40% compared to normal prices, within 2 days.
Mien Tay Bus Station will also apply the ticket sales plan from 5am to 9pm every day for authorized transport units, while strengthening the work of ensuring security, order, environmental sanitation and fire prevention.
At the new Eastern Bus Station, it is forecasted that passengers will increase by 27% and vehicles will increase by 18% compared to 2024, mainly focusing on short routes from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City. The total passenger volume in 6 days of service (August 29 - September 3) is expected to reach about 53,800 people.
The new Eastern Bus Station encourages transport units not to adjust fares during the holiday. Transport units are allowed to adjust fares to cover the cost of turning around for a maximum of 2 days (August 29 and 30). The expected adjustment level for the area from Da Nang to Dong Nai and the Western region is no more than 40% higher than normal days.
At the Eastern Bus Station (formerly Binh Thanh District), the number of passengers is expected to be nearly 56,000, mainly to the Central Highlands provinces with about 2,700 trips. Ticket prices are also only allowed to increase by a maximum of 40% on August 29-30.
Currently, bus stations monitor the flow of passengers and vehicles on each route to plan adjustments, focus on serving key routes, and avoid congestion and backlogs. In case the number of passengers increases, exceeding the transport capacity of transport units, the stations will proactively coordinate and mobilize the maximum number of vehicles to increase passenger clearance.
