Previously, on the afternoon of July 31, the Hue Zero-Dong Car Team used a metal detector to assist Mr. Karl Weihelm and his wife in searching for the ring one last time, but to no avail.

Police force of Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city was present to ensure security and order, mobilizing people to support the search.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, owner of the hotel on Nguyen Cong Tru street, Hue city - where Mr. and Mrs. Karl Weihelm stayed, said that these two guests left Hue at noon on July 1 to go to Hanoi according to their own schedule.

According to Mr. Loi, the lost ring is a sacred keepsake of the two guests, so they still hope that someone will find it and return it. The hotel owner said he is willing to negotiate and “redeem” the property to return to the guests if someone finds it.

Previously, as Dan Tri reported, on July 30, many people in Hue city gathered at the 3/2 park area, on the banks of the Huong River to search for the lost ring of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Weihelm.

The ring fell off the same morning, when the couple was walking in 3/2 Park, on the banks of the Perfume River.

This is the first time Mr. Karl Weihelm and his wife have come to Vietnam, on a 9-day trip .

The couple went to Da Nang and stayed in Hoi An for 4 days, then stayed in Hue for 3 days.

On the morning of July 30, Mr. Karl Weihelm and his wife went for a walk in the February 3rd Park. Facing the poetic natural scenery, the couple took off their rings to admire the sunlight. They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t realize they had dropped the ring.

The incident was shared on social networking sites, along with information that the ring was worth up to 1 billion VND, and the owner offered a reward of 20 million VND for the person who found it.

Many people came to the park to help the owner find the lost property. Even after dark, the search continued.

Mr. Karl Weihelm said the ring costs 4,000 NZD (more than 60 million VND), not worth up to 1 billion VND as spread online.

The ring that fell off was the one he had personally chosen to propose to his wife 6 months ago. For them, it was a sacred keepsake to be cherished, respected and preserved.
