This year's Reunification Train journey is a key activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Trains SE1 and SE4 departed from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, meeting at Da Nang Station at noon on April 30 in an emotional atmosphere, amid applause, familiar songs and the red flag with a yellow star. More than 900 passengers - including veterans, railway officials, students, and residents - together recalled memories of a glorious historical period.
At Da Nang Station, the “reunion” of the two trains became a meaningful highlight, not only a technical activity but also a symbolic milestone for the connection between the two regions after half a century. Many people, union members, students and veterans came to the station early to witness this sacred moment. Many activities such as incense offering, gift giving, and art performances were solemnly held at the station.
After the reunion in Da Nang, the two trains continued their journey, arriving at Saigon and Hanoi stations respectively on the morning of May 1. The special trip ended in a solemn atmosphere, leaving a deep echo of a historical journey, where the spirit of unity and national pride continued to be preserved and spread.
