The hydroponic vegetable production area of Phu Loc Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hoa Loc commune) is certified to VietGAP standards.
As a unit producing safe vegetables according to VietGAP standards, Director of Phu Loc Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hoa Loc commune) Nguyen Van Toan said: The Cooperative has more than 1,000m2 of hydroponic vegetable production according to VietGAP standards. To make product information transparent on the market, the Cooperative has applied technology in registering QR-codes integrated with product traceability information, such as: production process, harvesting, packaging..., thereby creating trust with consumers.
Similarly, at Hien Nhuan Production and Trading Company Limited, the company currently supplies more than 30 tons of vegetables, fruits, and food to supermarkets, clean food store chains, and collective kitchens in the province each month. To provide transparent product information to consumers, the company has applied information technology to food quality management, from the production process to food preparation and processing. Consumers can completely check the production date and expiration date; and the ingredients in the product.
In fact, a survey by the agricultural sector shows that in the province, the annual output of agricultural products reaches millions of tons, with many different types, so producers always face the situation of "good harvest, low price". Meanwhile, the products consumed on the market provide inconsistent and unclear information about the origin of the products. This is one of the reasons leading to the situation of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods. Therefore, there are many agricultural products and specialties that "self-label" themselves as organic, clean, safe, originating from famous production areas, but there is no data to prove it... Therefore, transparency of information related to products is not only a market need, but also an inevitable trend of development.
Vegetable and fruit products of Hien Nhuan Production and Trading Company Limited (Dong Tien ward) are pre-processed according to standards before being put on the market.
To support the application of technology in the management of safe agricultural product chains, the Thanh Hoa Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment) has supported cooperatives and enterprises in developing product traceability codes and granting growing area codes for agricultural products. As of July 2025, the whole province has 456 production and business establishments applying traceability stamps. Of which, 252/456 (accounting for 55.26%) establishments have OCOP products with 346 OCOP products affixed with QR-code stamps or have codes and barcodes. At the same time, the whole province has 121 production areas with 1,125 hectares granted growing area codes. Through this, production entities can promote and consume products through social networking platforms: Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok... and help producers connect directly with consumers. Consumers can “observe” the entire production process and product information through online checking. In the province, product information storage has been applied by management units in the province through technologies such as blockchain, IOT, AI and drones. With the advantages of technology, it has helped increase transparency, efficiency and sustainability in the agricultural sector.
Ms. Truong Thi Ha, Head of the Thanh Hoa Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development, said: Currently, the application of technology to manage the agricultural supply chain is not only a technological trend, but also an important step forward in the modernization and sustainable development of the agricultural sector. Especially in the context that Thanh Hoa province has been implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. Therefore, in addition to investing in infrastructure construction and human resource training, all levels and sectors need to promote awareness and ability to apply technology in the community and consumers, contributing to building a modern and sustainable agriculture. Creating an ecosystem of agricultural products that ensure quality and transparent information, not only meets the increasing demands of the domestic market but also aims for export.
