Despite being underestimated, U23 Philippines started the game very well. Right from the first minutes, the island nation team played confidently, controlled the ball more and continuously put pressure on the opponent's goal. However, the lack of sharpness in the final moves prevented them from scoring an early goal.

On the contrary, U23 Thailand showed their effectiveness in counter-attacks. In the 29th minute, Phathamit took advantage of the opportunity to make a decisive shot to open the score for the Golden Temple team. Despite being behind, U23 Philippines still tried to push up the formation to find an equalizer. However, the U23 Thailand defense played solidly, and the Philippines goalkeeper Guimaraes also had to show his talent many times to keep the hope for the home team.

In the second half, the game was still in favor of U23 Philippines, but once again U23 Thailand proved their sharpness. In the 74th minute, Siriphop Wandee doubled the gap with a close-range shot. Just 5 minutes later, Banatao shortened the score to 1-2 for U23 Philippines with a tricky header, rekindling hopes of a comeback.

However, the efforts of the blue team were extinguished when substitute player Seksan scored in the 86th minute with an unstoppable shot, sealing a 3-1 victory for U23 Thailand.

This victory helped Thailand U23 win third place overall. Although they could not reach the final, coach Thawatchai's team still managed to leave a positive impression with an effective and confident performance in the final match of the tournament.
