There were no surprises in the opening match of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the AVC Challenge Cup 2023. Facing a team that was rated much lower than Mongolia, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still fielded his strongest lineup.
However, the first few minutes of the Vietnam team did not really start well, only at the score of 5-5 did the girls in red shirts start to take the lead with 6 consecutive points. Although Mongolia tried very hard, the gap continued to widen before Vietnam won with a difference of 25-12.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team did not encounter many difficulties against Mongolia.
The second and third sets also took place with similar results, the Vietnamese team completely dominated their opponents and won 3-0, with the scores of the sets being 25-12, 25-17 and 25-12 respectively.
In the second half of set 1, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet started to rotate positions continuously. All team members were able to play, but the girls in red did not encounter too many difficulties against their opponents.
With captain Thanh Thuy, she continued to be the team's number one scorer with 9 points, despite the fact that the main attacker wearing number 3 only played in the first 2 sets before being given a break.
Against a weak opponent like Mongolia, Vietnam's strikers scored quite evenly. Tra Giang had 7 points, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Doan Thi Xuan each scored 6 points, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Kieu Trinh and Nguyet Anh each brought home 5 points.
After the match with Mongolia, the Vietnamese team will have the final group stage match of Group D against Uzbekistan at 7pm tomorrow, June 19. This promises to be another easy match for Thanh Thuy and her teammates.
