According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Vietnam needs to increase investment in training nurses and caregivers, because it is estimated that by 2030, the human resources working in this field will be short of about 50,000 people. This gap poses many challenges for the Vietnamese health sector, but also opens up development opportunities for businesses, workers, and training facilities.
In order to keep up with the country's development trends, in 2025, Gia Dinh University (GDU) plans to open new majors in the Health sector such as: Dentistry - Maxillofacial, Nursing and Rehabilitation Technology. These majors are designed with an intensive practical training model, closely combined with many hospitals, medical centers and leading technology enterprises. Here, students not only learn theory but also have access to practice through internships and practice sessions, ensuring a solid grasp of professional knowledge and work experience immediately after graduation.

The Department of Dentistry at GDU is expected to partly solve the problem of shortage of high-quality human resources for the country's healthcare sector. |
As a pioneer university combining education with research and practice, GDU is playing an important role in training human resources to meet the increasing demands of the healthcare industry. Cooperation programs with businesses and professional organizations are promoted by the school to contribute to spreading knowledge and creating value for the community and society.
Recently, GDU accompanied the Ho Chi Minh City Plastic Surgery Association in the scientific conference "New trends in cosmetic plastic surgery". The event gathered many Associate Professors, Doctors, leading doctors, working at prestigious hospitals, beauty salons, and universities at home and abroad to participate, providing a lot of useful knowledge, updating new trends in cosmetic plastic surgery such as: application of 3D digital technology, early control of tooth decay with xylitol, minimally invasive treatment of wound infection after injection of cosmetic fillers,...

Dr. JUI - Pin Lai presented the scientific report "Application of 3D reconstruction model and simulation transformation in treatment planning and guidance in orthopedic surgery". |
MSc. LS Trinh Huu Chung - Vice Principal of Gia Dinh University shared: “ In addition to scientific conference events, GDU also regularly coordinates to organize many talkshow programs, seminars, field trips to enterprises, ... to equip students with solid professional knowledge, proficient practical skills and professional work experience, meeting the requirements of the increasingly demanding labor market. The school always strives to create the best conditions for young people to confidently express themselves and unleash their creativity on the journey of knowledge discovery ”.
Currently, the health sector, especially Dentistry, Nursing and Rehabilitation Engineering, etc., has relatively high tuition fees because universities must calculate correctly and fully for training costs. Understanding that, the GDU Board of Directors has proactively connected with many businesses and philanthropists to provide students with practical scholarships.
It is known that in 2024 alone, GDU has implemented a series of scholarships for poor students who overcome difficulties, students with difficult circumstances or students with excellent academic achievements throughout the course with a total value of more than 10 billion VND. This is also the result of the school "rolling out the red carpet" to invite businesses to join hands to support, adding strength and intelligence to young people on their journey of knowledge discovery.

Gia Dinh University is in great need of the support of businesses and philanthropists to join hands to support and help students to firmly step on the journey of knowledge discovery. |
GDU has long affirmed its role as a multidisciplinary university, constantly expanding its training programs to meet the needs of a competitive labor market. Accompanying the scientific conference with the Ho Chi Minh City Plastic Surgery Association also partly demonstrates the school's strategic orientation in promoting cooperation with professional organizations, contributing to improving the quality of human resources and promoting the development of the Vietnamese healthcare sector.
