(CLO) Chinese scientists have released for free a powerful industrial software that can be used to design electronic warfare weapons, and testing shows that it outperforms the US product in both speed and memory usage.
The advancement is the result of 20 years of work largely unknown to the outside world, according to researchers involved in the project. The software, called Yaoguang, is considered the world's most powerful electronic warfare weapons design system.
Yaoguang was developed by Professor Li Bin and his team at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The software is particularly notable for its ability to perform rapid and efficient radiation simulation analyses.
While the famous American industrial software, Ansys HFSS, takes three hours to complete the task of simulating radiation on a multi-band antenna, Yaoguang only takes 12 minutes. This not only saves time but also consumes one-sixth less memory resources than the American software.

Ansys HFSS has been the industry standard in full 3D electromagnetic field simulation, helping engineers design high-frequency, high-speed electronic components with great accuracy and powerful computational performance.
However, the emergence of Yaoguang marks a major step forward because the software is not only 15 times faster but also consumes less computing resources, facilitating the design and development of future electronic warfare weapons.
The Yaoguang software has many important military applications, including the ability to analyze the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of electromagnetically launched aircraft carriers. Chinese researchers revealed that the software can provide a higher level of detail in analytical tasks, while saving time, taking only one-third of the time compared to American software.
Notably, Yaoguang has been released for free in the past few months, increasing its accessibility and usage in China and many other countries. Researchers say that instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on similar products, users can choose Yaoguang because it is not only free but also superior in many ways.
Yaoguang also has strong support in military and industrial applications in China. Experts say that China's dependence on expensive Western products could cause problems in the future, especially if access to such software is limited.
