Busting a billion-dollar lottery betting ring, arresting 6 people in Quang Nam

On October 21, the Investigation Police Agency of Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province, announced that it had just issued an emergency detention order for Pham Minh Cuong (born in 1987), Le Thi Be (born in 1975), Le Trung Vo (born in 1964), Nguyen Thi Thuy Hong (born in 1978), Le Chi Thuong (born in 1986), Dang Ba Hieu (born in 1990, all residing in Duy Thanh Commune, Duy Xuyen District) to investigate the act of "Organizing gambling and gambling".

According to the case file, through the work of grasping the situation, managing the area, and managing the subjects, Duy Xuyen District Police discovered a number of subjects in Duy Thanh commune participating in a large-scale gambling ring and organizing gambling.

The subjects combined both traditional and modern methods when taking advantage of social networks Zalo and Facebook to conduct gambling activities in the form of lottery recording.

To combat and eradicate this gambling ring, Duy Xuyen District Police have established a special project and mobilized forces and means, using synchronous professional measures to investigate and verify the behavior and methods of operation of the above group of subjects.

After a period of monitoring and collecting sufficient evidence, Duy Xuyen District Police successfully broke the case, simultaneously urgently searched the residences and summoned Le Thi Be, Pham Minh Cuong, Le Chi Thuong, Le Trung Vo, Nguyen Thi Thuy Hong and Truong Tan Hu (born in 1970) for questioning.

Through the initial investigation, the subjects confessed that they had taken advantage of lottery results from provinces and cities across the country to organize gambling and gambling from the beginning of 2024 until now.

Initial investigation results determined that the amount of money the subjects bet on lottery to date is about more than 4 billion VND. The authorities have seized 10 mobile phones and many documents related to lottery betting.
