Women's union officials appropriated members' money when collecting principal and interest on loans.

On August 21, the Economic Police Department, Quang Ngai Provincial Police announced that it had prosecuted and detained Bui Thi Thu Thuy (63 years old), residing in La Ha village, Tu Nghia commune, Quang Ngai province, for embezzlement of property.

Previously, Ms. Thuy was a cadre of the front, the Women's Union of La Ha town (old), now Tu Nghia commune. During the implementation of the cooperation contract between the Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Quang Ngai branch and the Women's Union of La Ha town (old), Ms. Thuy took advantage of being assigned to be the person directly responsible for collecting principal and interest from members who borrowed capital from the Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank to appropriate money from members, with a total amount of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

This is a very serious case, involving nearly 50 individuals. The investigation agency is expanding the investigation to clarify the criminal acts of the subject, as well as the responsibilities of other related individuals.

The Investigation Police Agency of Quang Ngai Province Police requested that the individual who is a member of the Women's Union of La Ha Town (formerly) who has paid the full amount to settle the loan contract for Ms. Thuy, go to the Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Quang Ngai branch to re-check the information about the loan contract.
