Attending the conference were Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, along with Deputy Directors; representatives of leaders of ethnic boarding schools in the city.
According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, the city currently has 13 boarding schools for ethnic minorities (5 schools under the Department, 8 schools under communes and wards), including 135 classes. Of which, there are 48 high school classes; 87 middle school classes. In addition, there is 1 Southern Intermediate Pali Cultural Supplementary School (including 7 high school and middle school classes).
Of the total 13 schools, 11/13 schools met national standards, the standard achievement rate was 84.62%.

Regarding the staff, teachers and employees, the Board of Directors has 37 people; secondary school teachers 212 people; high school teachers 148 people; and staff 177 people.
Education quality, especially the graduation rate of junior high school and high school in recent years, most schools have achieved a 100% graduation rate.
Currently, the facilities of many schools have been invested in and upgraded, meeting the requirements of standards to achieve National Standard Schools. 100% of the teaching staff have standard and above-standard qualifications. Students enjoy policies according to current regulations (in-kind provision; school supplies; scholarships, etc.).
However, ethnic minority boarding schools still face some difficulties such as the delay in receiving policies and regimes according to Joint Circular 109 for the last school year for students due to many reasons. The area of Hau Giang and Can Tho provinces (old) is large, the proportion of ethnic minority students is low, so it is difficult to recruit students at the beginning of the school year.
At the conference, delegates and leaders of boarding schools for ethnic minorities had many proposals and recommendations. In particular, for teachers and staff, it is necessary to strengthen professional training; information technology in management and teaching for teachers during the summer; and pay attention to policies for staff.
Regarding facilities, invest in teaching equipment according to the 2018 General Education Program; Compile textbooks and teaching materials for Khmer language for junior high school and high school levels in a timely manner (not yet available).

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, in the 2025-2026 school year, ethnic minority boarding schools need to prepare facilities and equipment for the new school year to be spacious and of high quality. Develop plans and directions for the school year based on the plans and directions for the school year of the Department of Education and Training.
Regarding personnel work, review, arrange and assign tasks to cadres, teachers and staff. Assign homeroom teachers; management of boarding students. Attention must be paid to nurturing and care work...
Review admission records, paying special attention to students from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged areas; develop boarding regulations, student living and self-management rules; establish a dormitory management board.
Closely coordinate with the Parents' Representative Committee; local authorities to manage student support. Connect with social organizations and businesses to mobilize resources, scholarships, and equipment;
Strengthening political and ideological education, ethics and lifestyle for students; cultural education; life skills education and career guidance; physical and health education; education on national traditions and cultural identity; youth union work and student self-management...
