100 million VND reward for students who won gold medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics

(Dan Tri) - On August 11, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a meeting to honor Le Kien Thanh, a student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, who won a gold medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics in Bolivia.

At the meeting, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, awarded 100 million VND to Le Kien Thanh for this outstanding achievement.

In addition, Gia Lai Provincial Youth Union also awarded a certificate of merit to Le Kien Thanh for his outstanding achievements.

According to Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Le Kien Thanh's gold medal is not only the pride of Gia Lai province, but also a symbol of the spirit of constant improvement of Vietnamese education , affirming the position of young Vietnamese intelligence in the international arena.

"The provincial leaders hope to spread Thanh's spirit of learning and desire to contribute to all students in the province, thereby lighting more golden flames for the homeland," Mr. Giang emphasized.

Mr. Giang also said that the province will continue to create conditions to discover, nurture and develop talents, especially in the fields of science , technology and innovation.

Sharing at the commendation ceremony, Le Kien Thanh was moved when the provincial leaders organized a meeting. Thanh also did not forget to express his deep gratitude to the provincial leaders, the Department of Education and Training, the school's Board of Directors, and teachers for their help and support throughout the learning and exam process.

Thanh said he participated in many domestic IT competitions, but this International Informatics Olympiad was very stressful and pressured.

“During difficult times, my parents were always there to encourage me. Their silent sacrifices and unconditional trust helped me overcome all pressures. Thank you for always being there for me, whether it was the nights I stayed up late writing code or the times I was tired because of difficult math problems,” Thanh said emotionally.

Mr. Huynh Le Minh, Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Gia Lai), emphasized that Thanh is an excellent student of the school, achieving many admirable achievements, bringing glory to the province and the school. Thanh deserves to be an example for students to follow.

The 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics witnessed an impressive performance by the Vietnamese delegation. The Vietnamese team had 4 members participating. Of which, Le Kien Thanh (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai) was the only member of the Vietnamese team to win a gold medal.

Two silver medals went to Dang Huy Hau (Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong) and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Ninh Quang Thang (Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh) won the bronze medal.

This result puts Vietnam in the group of 8 countries and territories with the highest achievements.
