Despite his young age, Nguyen Dinh Hop (born in 1991), Head of the Farmers' Association of Dong Luat village, Vinh Thai commune, Vinh Linh district, has successfully built many different economic models. Thanks to that, over the years, he has not only increased his family's income, but has also become a role model for many households in the area to learn from and follow.

Although it is not a holiday season, Mr. Hop and his wife's beach service business still has customers coming to eat and swim. Busy setting up tables and chairs, serving dishes to customers, the young owner happily informed that this year the number of customers has increased compared to previous years. "During the peak holiday season of April 30 - May 1, my shop almost had no seats left. There were so many customers, my wife and I worked hard from morning to late night without stopping, but thanks to that, our income increased," Mr. Hop shared.
Looking at the business development as it is now, few people know that the young couple once had a difficult time starting their business. Mr. Hop revealed that before deciding to return to his hometown to start a business in 2016, he had traveled to many places and done many different jobs. Returning to his hometown with the mechanical profession he learned while living in Ho Chi Minh City and the small amount of capital he had saved, he decided to open a small mechanical workshop in the locality. At first, he simply welded chicken coops and made iron doors for people in the neighborhood.
Over time, thanks to his hard work, the products he made had beautiful and sturdy designs, so people trusted him to place larger orders. The mechanical work not only provided his family with a stable monthly income but also created regular jobs for 2-3 local idle workers with a salary of 3-4 million VND/person/month.
Not stopping at the mechanical profession, also in 2016, taking advantage of the advantages of Vinh Thai hometown, Mr. Hop and his wife invested 200 million VND to build a beach business. However, not long after, the Formosa marine environmental incident occurred, forcing his family's business to stop.
By 2018, when everything had returned to normal, Mr. Hop once again boldly renovated and developed his business. Luckily, this time, his business has developed effectively until now. Every year, earning profits from the beach business, Mr. Hop and his wife continue to upgrade, renovate, and purchase more facilities.
At the same time, he and his wife also diligently learn how to prepare delicious dishes from many other restaurants in the area to attract more tourists. “In addition to the beach business, I also work in catching seafood such as shrimp, fish, squid...
This job not only helps my restaurant always have an abundant and fresh source of food, but also contributes to increasing my family's income because it can be done all year round, while the beach business only lasts for 4-5 months in the summer," said Mr. Hop.
In addition to the above models, his family also raises sows. According to Mr. Hop, raising sows is not too difficult.
However, it is necessary to focus on increasing the frequency of feeding; supplementing clean water sources and creating a comfortable environment for pigs so that raising them is less tiring and achieves the highest efficiency. From the above economic models, the couple has earned an income of over 250 million VND per year.
Not only focusing on taking care of family economic development, as a branch president, Mr. Hop also enthusiastically helps, exchanges and guides many farmer members about knowledge and practical experience in animal husbandry and cultivation.
He is also one of the enthusiastic and energetic association officials in the association's work at the grassroots level and actively participates in activities in residential areas; actively propagandizes and mobilizes members to change the structure of crops and livestock; applies scientific and technical advances in production and animal husbandry, increases family income, and contributes to the construction of new rural areas. Thanks to that, Mr. Hop is loved and trusted by the members of the association and is highly appreciated by the farmers' associations at all levels.
Not stopping there, Mr. Hop said he is nurturing many potential models and projects in the near future.
Sharing his experience in building an economic model, Mr. Hop said: “In my opinion, if you want to do business effectively, you have to be proactive in learning, be creative, dare to think, and dare to do. Once you have the knowledge about the model you need to do and the determination, I believe you will achieve success.”
