Specifically, the martyrs’ remains were found at a depth of about 0.8 – 1 meter, wrapped in a martyr’s bag with bones and teeth. Accompanying relics include: a whole piece of cloth, buttons, shoe buttons, communication cord, parachute cord, etc.
Captain of the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team, Economic-Defense Group 337, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phu said that during the search process, the unit complied with regulations, was careful and meticulous in every step, absolutely did not leave behind the remains and relics of the martyrs. At the same time, during the excavation process, the team members always showed high determination, overcame difficulties to complete the assigned tasks well.
For the martyrs' remains that have been collected, we are currently preserving them at the Khe Sanh Commune Spiritual Cultural Area. To continue the search, the unit is continuing to expand the surrounding area.
As reported by Quang Tri Newspaper and Radio and Television, previously, in Xa Re village, Khe Sanh commune, from May 19 to June 6, the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team of Economic-Defense Group 337 searched for and collected 8 martyrs' remains and held a memorial and burial ceremony.
