Regarding the incident in which some students behaved inappropriately towards veterans while attending the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has issued official information.

A video clip showing a group of young men being rude and speaking loudly to a veteran has angered the online community for many days.

After the incident, the student sent a sincere apology to the veterans and the online community, expressing deep remorse for his wrongdoing and asking for a chance to grow up after his mistake.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh, Vice Principal of HUTECH, said this incident is a serious warning about public behavior, especially in sacred spaces and moments associated with national traditions.

The school will handle the situation in accordance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and at the same time apply appropriate educational measures so that students have the opportunity to correct their mistakes, mature, and become more responsible people towards the community and the country.

During more than 30 years of establishment and development, the school has continuously focused on building a civilized and modern learning environment, especially valuing ethical foundations, communication skills, and civic responsibility in addition to professional knowledge, ensuring to maintain a positive, beautiful student image and inspire the community.

"Through this incident, we hope that every HUTECH student - and more broadly, every young person today - will reconsider their sense of personal responsibility in their behavior and speech in public. Don't let a moment of anger or lack of control ruin your personal image and hurt the community," emphasized Dr. Quoc Anh.

After the incident of fighting with a group of young people, two veterans were assisted with better seats by a group of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM).

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , a video clip of a group of young people yelling at veterans while waiting in line to watch the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification was spread at a dizzying speed in the early morning of April 30.

Because they did not agree to give up their seats, this group of young people raised their voices and had an excessive attitude towards adults. Among them, there was 1 student studying at Van Lang University and 1 student studying at HUTECH. Below the video, many angry accounts said that the group of young people had behaved disrespectfully towards adults and should be condemned.
