This year's competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University of Education has 8 subjects similar to last year, including Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. Of which, Literature has 30% multiple choice questions and 70% essay questions, English has a ratio of 80 - 20 multiple choice questions and essay questions, the remaining subjects are 70-30%.

The exam is expected to be held on May 11, 2024 with the following schedule:

Hanoi National University of Education plans to announce the exam location and list of recognized schools, using these results for enrollment after December 28.

2024 is the third year that Hanoi National University of Education has organized the competency assessment exam. Last year, nearly 4,700 candidates registered for the exam in Hanoi and Binh Dinh. In addition to this school, 7 other schools also use the exam results for admission, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; the Pedagogical schools of Hue University, Thai Nguyen University, Da Nang University; Vinh University (Nghe An), Hanoi National University of Education 2 (Vinh Phuc) and Quy Nhon University.

Currently, the whole country has nearly 10 separate university entrance exams, the most popular being the aptitude test of two national universities, the thinking test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the exam of police schools.

More than a hundred universities use the results of these exams for admission, in addition to considering high school graduation exam scores and some other methods. Candidates taking separate exams increase every year to increase their chances of being admitted to university.
