Infiltrating Dinh Market (Nghe An): 'Paradise' of fake and counterfeit goods at shockingly cheap prices?

Dinh Market, in Yen Thanh Commune, is one of the largest rural markets in Nghe An Province, meeting three times a month, attracting thousands of people from many communes to come and buy and sell. However, it is alarming that this market is flooded with counterfeit, fake, and unlabeled goods, which are openly sold at surprisingly low prices, posing many risks to consumers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Director of Hoa Thanh Agricultural and General Service Cooperative (the unit managing Dinh market) said: We are only assigned to collect fees such as market entrance fees, area usage fees, environmental sanitation fees, etc. Controlling the quality of goods is difficult due to lack of human resources, funding and the ability to recognize fake and counterfeit goods is not easy. The involvement of state agencies and market management forces is needed.
