Book Heart for the Country - Photo: Publishing House
Heart for the Country published by the National Political Publishing House Truth for the second time.
Not only does the book depict the rich revolutionary career of former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, it also shows the mindset of a leader with strategic vision and deep humanity, always concerned with the fate of the country and the Vietnamese people.
Memories of the longest negotiation to end the war
The book consists of three main parts. The first part , Thoughts on the country, the people and the Party , collects articles, speeches and interviews by Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, deeply expressing her political ideology and steadfast belief in the revolutionary path chosen by the Party and Uncle Ho, along with her thoughts and concerns about the future of the country and the young generation.
In the section Diplomacy and Lessons , she recalls and analyzes the process of foreign affairs activities, especially the negotiation period of the Paris Agreement, from the battlefield context, international pressure to strategic steps at the negotiating table and draws profound lessons on the art of diplomacy.
The final part of For an honest, healthy, modern education collects articles, statements, and interviews that demonstrate the depth of an educator.
She shared about building a comprehensive education that values ethics, personality and life ideals of the young generation.
One of the highlights of the book is the memoir of the Paris negotiations, an event that marked a major turning point in Vietnamese revolutionary diplomacy.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was the head of the negotiating delegation of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam (1968) and the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam (from 1969-1973). She was the only woman sitting at the negotiating table between the parties.
She affirmed: "In the history of world diplomacy, the Paris negotiations on Vietnam from May 1968 to January 1973 were the longest negotiations to end a war in the 20th century."
With more than 200 public meetings, 45 high-level private meetings, 500 press conferences and 1,000 interviews - the numbers mentioned not only show the fierceness of the diplomatic front - but are also vivid evidence of the perseverance, courage and intelligence of revolutionary diplomacy.
Previously, the National Political Publishing House Truth published the book Family, Friends and Country, a memoir by Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh on the occasion of the April 30 holiday, recording a circulation of up to 48,000 copies up to now.
This number shows the great sympathy from readers for the spiritual values that Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh conveys in a political-memoir work. Those are the memories, ideals, and reason for living of a legendary figure of the Vietnamese revolution and diplomacy.
