Listing some key tasks in 2024, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City Vo Thi Trung Trinh said that it will focus on major programs and projects such as: building Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city by 2025, digital transformation, developing telecommunications infrastructure and digital infrastructure, researching and developing artificial intelligence applications, supporting the development of enterprises and information technology and communications products.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, regarding the second phase of the press planning, the department has listened fully and accepted the opinions of the association and press agencies to have a complete plan to submit to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for approval. The proposed plan is feasible, reasonable, and consistent with the Prime Minister's press planning and the practical political tasks of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Duong Anh Duc - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Department of Information and Communications to continue implementing the contents, programs and projects proposed in the Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, including the Smart City and Digital Transformation project.
Regarding the press planning project, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications closely follow the Ministry of Information and Communications and relevant agencies and provide advice and proposals to receive support from the Central Government to deploy the construction of a network and system of press agencies in the city in a reasonable manner, suitable to the practical situation.
"HCMC must build a truly transparent, effective and clean press, information and propaganda environment. This is extremely important. We request the Department of Information and Communications to strongly and resolutely fight against deviations in press information and propaganda work" - Mr. Duong Anh Duc suggested.

Receiving the direction of the city leaders, Director of the Department of Information and Communications Lam Dinh Thang also said that in 2024, there are 4 contents that need to be implemented including: press development policy; organizational model of the city's press agencies; more systematic and effective policy communication; through the inspection mechanism, coordinate with the police agency to handle to build a clean, healthy and effective press environment.
On this occasion, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City awarded certificates of merit to 11 collectives and 11 individuals who excellently completed their tasks in 2023.
