At the time Bangkok (Thailand) was affected by a strong aftershock from the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Myanmar on the afternoon of March 28, 2025, a group of Vietnamese tourists from Viet Travel Company and Van Thinh Tour Company had just left a high-rise commercial center building in Bangkok. Although they were scared and panicked, fortunately, no tourists were affected and continued with the tour schedule.

In the face of natural disasters, the issue of tours and the safety of Vietnamese people traveling to the Land of Golden Pagodas are issues of concern to the community.

According to records from travel agencies such as Vietravel, Vietluxtour, Du lich Viet, Bestprice... up to now, there have been no cases of Vietnamese tourists being injured or killed, everything is still under control. Thai partners of Vietnamese travel companies have not yet issued any warnings or recommendations.

As the travel agency that regularly sends the most groups of tourists to Thailand in the country, Vietravel currently has 14 groups with more than 300 guests on their journey to explore the Land of the Golden Pagoda. A representative of this company said that the groups' schedules were not affected by the earthquake information, one group still departed on the afternoon of March 28. However, this unit affirmed that they and their partners are monitoring the situation at the destinations to make timely adjustments if necessary.

“We just had a group depart today (March 28), but now the whole group has arrived safely in Pattaya. The group will continue to stay in Pattaya for the next two days. We will have the next group to Thailand on April 4. We are still monitoring and continuously updating information from our partners in Thailand,” said Mr. Bui Thanh Tu, Marketing Director of BestPrice Travel Company.

According to Mr. Tu, BestPrice's partner in Thailand has not issued any warnings as of the night of March 28.

Representatives of some travel agencies affirmed that they are still closely monitoring the situation of tourist groups and the actual developments of the destinations on the journey to make appropriate and timely adjustments in the spirit of putting the safety of tourists first.

According to travel companies, the most heavily affected areas are high-rise buildings in the inner city. Therefore, the local government has issued a new announcement confirming that all tourist attractions in Bangkok are currently unaffected. Therefore, companies bringing Vietnamese tourists here to visit will not encounter any obstacles because they can use specialized buses.

Earlier, from 3:00 p.m. the same day, local authorities sent a notice to all residents and tourists to find safe shelter.

An earthquake in central Myanmar has shaken the Thai capital Bangkok, damaging several buildings. The aftershocks also shook many high-rise buildings and hotels, forcing residents and tourists to evacuate the area. The capital Bangkok has been declared a disaster area and the Bangkok governor has been tasked with coordinating the response effort.

According to preliminary information from Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand, up to this point there has been no information about any Vietnamese people being affected by the earthquake./.

Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand continue to maintain close contact with local authorities and Vietnamese community leaders in earthquake-affected areas to closely monitor the situation; be ready to deploy citizen protection plans if necessary; and advise people to closely monitor announcements and comply with instructions from local authorities to guard against earthquake aftershocks in the next 24 hours.
