After 8 years, Fulbright University Vietnam was officially granted a construction permit. Why?

Specifically, Fulbright University Vietnam received the construction permit for phase 1 at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park on October 28, 2024, but since February 2016, the High-Tech Park Management Board has signed a contract for Fulbright University Vietnam to lease land at a price of 0 VND/ ^m2 , an area of ​​more than 15 hectares, for use in 50 years. The Management Board based on the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the policy mechanism to attract investment in the High-Tech Park and Decree No. 59/2014 on the policy to encourage socialization to exempt land rent.

However, this land rent exemption by the High-Tech Park Management Board was stuck in regulations and could not be implemented. Since then, with the strong promotion and support of the Government , Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and a number of related ministries and agencies, this problem has been resolved to grant a construction permit for phase 1 to Fulbright University Vietnam.

According to a representative of Fulbright University Vietnam, this allows the school to begin implementing the main items on an area of ​​15 hectares, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026. The school expects that the new campus, designed in a modern style, meeting the highest criteria for environmental protection and focusing on students, will contribute to creating the best facilities for students, contributing to the training of high-quality human resources, serving the sustainable development of Vietnam in the future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Scott Fritzen, President of Fulbright University Vietnam, shared: "Receiving the construction license for phase 1 is an extremely meaningful milestone for Fulbright University Vietnam. We are committed to developing a world-class higher education institution, not only to meet the demand for high-quality human resources in Vietnam but also to contribute to building an advanced, dynamic and sustainable education system. We appreciate the support of the High-Tech Park Management Board and believe that the project will contribute to promoting the education and technology ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City."

Mr. Nguyen Nghia Hiep, acting head of the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park Management Board, also expressed his support for the project: "This project is not only a testament to the strong cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the US, but also an important step forward in improving the quality of human resources and promoting the development of science and technology in Ho Chi Minh City."
