Looking at the current spatial reality and development potential of the locality, it can be affirmed that the establishment of the new Vang Danh ward is not only a simple administrative merger, but also a sum of individual strengths into a development whole with the potential for breakthrough. After July 1, 2025, when the district-level administrative unit officially ceases to operate, Vang Danh ward will be established with a natural area of nearly 94km², a total population of nearly 37,000 people, distributed in 32 residential areas stretching from North to South, creating both natural landscape characteristics and requirements for synchronous and scientific planning in urban infrastructure development.
Previously, Vang Danh and surrounding areas were the coal production center of Quang Ninh. Since the early years of renovation, coal output from mines in the area has always contributed greatly to the local and national budgets, being the "pillar" of heavy industry in the Northeast region.
According to the report for the 2020-2025 term, the total state budget revenue of the four old wards reached nearly 497 billion VND, of which Vang Danh and Trung Vuong wards by 2024 had balanced their budget revenue and expenditure, demonstrating their solid financial capacity and independence in public resources. Total local budget expenditure reached more than 135 billion VND with the proportion of construction investment expenditure reaching 20.5%, the annual disbursement of public investment capital always reached 100% of the plan - demonstrating the determination in governance, operation and the ability to develop sustainable public finance. Notably, the average gross domestic product in the area increased continuously, reaching 11,000 USD/person in 2024, among the leading groups in the province.
Not only strong in industry, Vang Danh land also contains great potential for tourism and services. In recent years, Vang Danh area has gradually emerged on the tourism map of Quang Ninh with many festivals attracting tourists, such as Den Cong communal house festival - Co Linh temple, Trung Vuong's going to the fields festival, Pho Am pagoda festival of Bac Son... Activities such as the program "Uong Bi welcomes summer", "Golden autumn on Phuong Hoang peak - Bac Son", Binh Huong - Vang Danh mountain climbing competition... have also attracted a large number of tourists, contributing to promoting the local image.
In the agricultural sector, the Vang Danh area has been gradually transforming the production model from fragmented, self-sufficient to ecological and commodity agriculture. In particular, the Trung Vuong area is one of the typical areas in promoting concentrated aquaculture with strict environmental standards; the Vang Danh area develops large-scale livestock farming and planting high-value ornamental plants such as yellow apricot, orchids, etc. Outstanding agricultural credit in the area will reach over 96 billion VND by the end of 2024, supporting hundreds of typical production models, such as raising white-leg shrimp in floating round tanks, raising earthworms combined with organic rice, raising crabs, monosex tilapia, etc. The average growth rate of the value of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector is 9.6%/year - a very impressive figure in the context of agricultural areas under pressure from urbanization.
With the achievements and great potential to expand the development space, in parallel with the development of sustainable mining industry with the focus still on coal and electricity, Vang Danh ward has just clearly determined the orientation to develop more processing and manufacturing industry with strong investment in Phuong Nam Industrial Park. At the same time, Vang Danh ward also possesses favorable conditions for trade and service development with Nam Khe area which is a bustling service center, with a large number of students from universities and colleges in the area; Trung Vuong area has the strength of concentrated aquaculture applying high technology; Bac Son and Vang Danh areas have great potential for developing trade services combined with ecological agriculture...
With a relatively solid foundation, in the last 6 months of 2025, Vang Danh ward sets the general goal of "Building a clean, strong, and comprehensive Party and political system; accelerating economic development, increasing budget revenue; developing Vang Danh culture and people with Quang Ninh identity, ensuring social security, improving the quality of life for the people" and clearly stating the motto of action as "Stabilizing the organization of the political system; promoting economic development, creating momentum for the new term".
The ward sets a target of 10% growth rate of total product value in the area, total budget revenue exceeding the province's estimate, average income per capita reaching 90-100 million VND depending on the growth scenario; the rate of cultural households is over 95%, the health insurance coverage rate is over 98%; maintaining 100% of public schools meeting national standards, the rate of urban residents using clean water is over 94%... In the work of Party building in terms of ideology, politics, ethics and organization, the ward sets a target of 90% of affiliated Party organizations completing their tasks well, the rate of Party members completing their tasks well is over 90%, the rate of newly admitted Party members is 3% or more compared to the total number of Party members at the beginning of 2025... Those targets are not just administrative numbers, but urgent political requirements, a commitment to improve the quality of grassroots Party organizations after the merger...
