Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Veterans Association Nguyen Tan Thanh said that the 7th Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress of "Exemplary Veterans" is an opportunity for the Provincial Veterans Association to summarize the achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of exemplary veterans in the period of 2019-2024; evaluate and draw lessons in leading and directing the organization of the emulation movement; at the same time, commend and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements...

Over the past 5 years, the Quang Nam Provincial Veterans Association has developed 3,458 new members (reaching 121.9% of the set target), bringing the total number of members in the province to 37,090. Of these, 10,218 are Party members, 2,053 comrades were elected to Party committees at all levels for the 2020-2025 term and participated in government, Front, and mass organizations from the province to the village and block levels.

Poverty reduction among members has always been a concern of the association at all levels and has achieved remarkable results. Over the past 5 years, the province has reduced the number of poor veteran households by 1,663 and the number of near-poor households by 1,043. Currently, 8 out of 18 districts, towns and cities in the province have no poor or near-poor veteran households.

The association at all levels has mobilized and supported the construction, repair and upgrading of 262 houses; built 147 houses of gratitude and comradeship, with a total amount of more than 7.36 billion VND.

Over the past 5 years, the association has mobilized cadres and members to contribute more than 7 billion VND and participate in 121,220 working days, build 38,720km of rural roads, dredge 14.7km of intra-field canals, build Guol houses, village and block activity houses and other welfare works. Notably, 128 members in districts, towns and cities voluntarily donated 138,252m2 of garden and residential land to build rural roads, schools and medical stations.

Along with that, the families of cadres and members contributed more than 6 billion VND to the Fund for the Poor, the Gratitude Fund, and the Children's Protection Fund.

Over the past 5 years, the patriotic emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans" of the Association, associated with the patriotic emulation movement of the province, has been innovated and developed in terms of content, form and implementation measures, truly a lever to promote all levels of the Association to successfully complete assigned political tasks, build a strong Association organization, and contribute significantly to the overall achievements of the province.

Speaking at the congress, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Dung acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the province's veterans over the past 5 years; and at the same time, pointed out a number of key tasks in the coming time.

Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Dung suggested that the Provincial Veterans Association continue to promote the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's Army", the tradition of "Loyalty, Solidarity - Exemplary - Innovation" of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and the tradition of the homeland of Quang Nam "Courageous, resilient".

Continue to advise local Party committees and authorities to lead, direct and successfully implement the tasks of the Veterans Association and local movements and campaigns; contribute to building the homeland of Quang Nam to become increasingly rich and prosperous.

At this congress, delegates unanimously introduced 6 comrades to attend the Patriotic Emulation Congress "Exemplary Veterans" of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the period 2024-2029 and to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Veterans Association (December 6, 1989 - December 6, 2024).

On this occasion, on behalf of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung presented the Excellent Emulation Flag to the Veterans Association of Quang Nam province; the representative of the Provincial People's Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 3 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements... The Veterans Association of Quang Nam province also awarded funding to support the construction of 7 "Comradeship Houses" for 7 members, each house worth 60 million VND.
