Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh visits Quang Ninh's first automobile factory
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh visited and worked with Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province on the afternoon of October 8.
Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory is a place to manufacture and assemble Skoda brand cars under the investment cooperation program of the leading Czech automobile company with Thanh Cong Group. The factory is located in Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex, with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year.
Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile and supporting industry complex has a total area of nearly 400 hectares, located in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Quang Ninh. The complex has areas such as automobile manufacturing and assembly factories with areas of 36.5 hectares and 31 hectares; port areas of 14.27 hectares, CKD warehouse of 26.08 hectares, finished vehicle warehouse of 29.39 hectares, R&D area of 18.7 hectares, battery and engine factory of 22 hectares, auxiliary area of 83 hectares, service area.

Reporting to the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and the working delegation, the leader of Thanh Cong Group said that after 2 years of construction, Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory has basically completed the final construction items, ready to start testing from the end of 2024 and commercial operation from the beginning of 2025.
According to the plan, in the first phase of operation, the factory will assemble the first Skoda cars in the SUV and B-class Sedan segments. In the next phase, the factory will expand to environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
This is one of the province's new processing and manufacturing industrial products and is also the first automobile factory project in Quang Ninh province.
Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automotive and Supporting Industry Complex in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City is conveniently located for both domestic and international trade with a supply chain connecting dozens of manufacturing plants, including automobile assembly, battery and engine production, supporting facilities, ports and services.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of Thanh Cong Group proposed: The automobile industry is a high-tech industry, internationally competitive and requires large investments. In order for the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex to soon be effective, the investor is still continuing to complete investment items according to plan, promoting investment attraction from supporting industry partners to increase the localization rate and move towards mastering the main technology. On that basis, it is hoped that the Government will have preferential policies and specific mechanisms for high-tech zones or economic zones to compete equally with other automobile enterprises and have opportunities for development.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated the proactive, self-reliant and self-reliant spirit of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Quang Ninh province in effectively implementing post-storm recovery solutions, promptly restarting production activities, especially in industries and sectors that contribute highly to economic growth, and remaining steadfast in the set growth target. He commended the spirit of solidarity of Thanh Cong Group, which promptly seized opportunities, closely coordinated with Quang Ninh province to implement investment plans; and made efforts to complete the automobile factory project early to put it into operation.
The factory will contribute to the development of the Vietnamese automobile industry; in line with the Government's orientation in the goal of increasing the localization rate, increasing autonomy in automobile production; making the automobile industry an important industry, serving the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
To encourage the development of the automobile industry - a synthesis industry of many other industries such as: Mechanics, electronics, automation..., the Government has changed its perspective, instead of setting unrealistic localization criteria, it has now adjusted towards developing the automobile industry in line with the global value chain; assigning and cooperating for joint production.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh suggested that Thanh Cong Group continue to approach new green automobile manufacturing technology, in line with the world's development trend. Mobilizing more component manufacturing enterprises to operate in this complex, opening up new opportunities for other enterprises to join the value chain. The Government will continue to have policies to support the development of the automobile industry, improve the quality, scale and competitiveness of the economy to contribute to local and national growth.
