On the morning of August 18, the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment held a conference to deploy winter crop production in 2025. Comrades: Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment co-chaired the conference.

Safe production linked to consumer market
With the motto of safe production, identifying the 2025 winter crop as the main crop to compensate for the damage of the summer-autumn crop due to the impact of storm No. 3, ensuring income for people and agricultural supply for the market, Nghe An strives to plant 33,626 hectares of winter crops of all kinds (1,650 hectares of corn, 1,050 hectares of peanuts, 12,150 hectares of vegetables of all kinds, 1,420 hectares of sweet potatoes and potatoes...).
Of which, the area on riverside alluvial land is about 5,800 ha, the area of coastal fertile land is about 1,427 ha, the area on wet rice land is 2,950 ha, the area on copper and hilly land is about 22,855 ha and the area on swidden land is 594 ha.

Winter crop is a crop that often faces many risks due to natural disasters. Therefore, in the Project on organizing winter crop production in 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has proposed specific solutions for safe and effective production. In particular, based on the advantages of each region, conditions and intensive farming level of localities, plans and production targets should be developed in line with the actual situation, and safe production areas should be arranged in association with consumption markets to increase income value per unit area.
Technical solutions such as crop timing and variety structure, plant protection, and irrigation are specifically developed based on weather and pest forecasts.

Mobilizing all resources for successful winter crop production
At the conference, the difficulties of winter crop production this year were pointed out, from which specific solutions for each crop were discussed.
According to forecasts, there will be moderate and heavy rains at the beginning and middle of the crop, with a high risk of causing damage and greatly affecting the production area and yield of crops, especially on rice fields.
Unlike previous years, the implementation of two-level local government, in addition to creating conditions for communes to proactively develop plans and direct production in accordance with actual conditions, initially operating under the new commune government will also face difficulties, affecting production organization at the commune level. Along with that are difficulties due to lack of human resources, the irrigation system still does not ensure timely drainage capacity...

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated: In such difficult conditions, Nghe An needs to promote all resources, successfully produce the winter crop, making an important contribution to completing the year's crop output plan and increasing production value.
“Apart from difficulties, we also have many favorable conditions. The central government, the province and localities have many support mechanisms and policies to encourage farmers to feel secure and invest in developing production. In particular, the whole province has over 59,000 hectares of land for summer-autumn rice production, with about 15,000 hectares of alluvial land along rivers and seas, which is an advantage in terms of space to increase the area of winter crops,” the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized.

He also specifically directed the irrigation sector to organize a campaign for the entire population to work on irrigation; coordinate with localities and relevant units to develop a plan to promptly drain water for crops when there is heavy rain and storms causing flooding, in order to minimize damage caused by storms. At the same time, urge and urgently repair canals to operate well in the upcoming storm season, promptly serving winter crop production.

The Agriculture - Environment sector and localities must focus on investing in the application of scientific and technological advances, developing production towards commodities, expanding the area of high -value crops, replicating VietGAP and organic safety models; building circular garden economic models that adapt to climate change. Promoting linkages in production and product consumption...
