“Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” is set in Cu Chi in 1967 - the time when this steel land became the target of fierce sweeps by the US army. At Binh An Dong base, Bay Theo and a 21-man guerrilla team were assigned to protect the field hospital's medicine warehouse, but their primary mission was to protect the strategic intelligence group led by Hai Thung who was hiding there. The radio signal was detected, meaning they were forced into a life-and-death situation by fierce sweeps by the US army... Along with stories intertwined between comradeship, love and the desire to live of the soldiers, but above all, the spirit of sacrifice for the Fatherland, “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” is considered an emotional work, faithfully recreating the heroic history of the previous generation.

“Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” is the result of more than 10 years of nurturing by director Bui Thac Chuyen. This is also a meaningful work released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. The film features actors Thai Hoa, Meritorious Artist Cao Minh, Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh, Diem Hang, Nhat Y, Khanh Ly, A Toi... During the premiere in Hanoi, many artists of many generations came to share the joy with the film crew: People's Artist Lan Huong, People's Artist Le Khanh, People's Artist Nhu Quynh, People's Artist Xuan Bac, Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang, Meritorious Artist Ho Phong, Meritorious Artist Do Ky and many other actors such as Quach Thu Phuong, Anh Tuan, Thanh Son, Huynh Anh, Thanh Huong, Viet Hoa, Anh Dao, Tran Nghia and Hoang Kim Ngoc, actor Dan Le and her husband and director Khai Anh...
Bringing the story of the “land of steel and copper” to the capital, director Bui Thac Chuyen expressed his deep gratitude to the audience and guests. The director shared: “I am grateful to all the first audiences who came to support the film today. Our wish has always been to make a film towards the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification and to be able to show it to as many people as possible so that everyone can feel that our ancestors knew how to fight and could defeat any enemy, no matter how strong. Everyone here today has brought the film the greatest luck”.

After the premiere, many artists expressed their emotions when watching “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark”. Meritorious Artist - Director Nguyen Xuan Son said: “What I appreciate most is that I don’t see any actors but only soldiers, Southern people fighting in Cu Chi Tunnels. That is a wonderful thing from director Bui Thac Chuyen”. People’s Artist Lan Huong expressed: “It has been a long time since I have seen actors living in characters like this, especially young actors - those who have never experienced the fierceness of war. The atmosphere of the film makes me feel proud, this is truly a work worthy of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. I hope young people will go see it to see what the value of today’s peaceful life has been exchanged for”…
It is known that after early screenings on April 2-3 in Hanoi, the film "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" will officially premiere on April 4.
