“Turns out you’re going to run out of candles on your 146th birthday!” Biden joked in a post that included a photo of a cake decorated with dozens of candles. The candles were arranged so close together that they formed a glowing circle that viewers commented on.

"Does the Secret Service have a fire department?" one commenter joked.

"The baker could have made the cake bigger so the candles had room to breathe," another wrote.

Mr Biden has made several jokes about his age in recent weeks, amid growing concerns about the US president's age reflected in recent polls.

The 46th President of the United States spent his birthday on November 20 pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys at the White House. During the birthday celebration, Mr. Biden joked that he had just turned 60.

"I just want you to know that turning 60 is hard. It's hard," he said at the ceremony.

Mr. Biden also joked about comparing the 76th anniversary of the White House turkey pardon tradition to his age.

"I want you to know that I was not present at the first pardon ceremony. I was too young," he said.
