On the afternoon of May 27, the website of the shipping company Ninja Van in Vietnam deleted the map showing the company's post offices across the country. Previously, this map was discovered to have no annotations of the names and locations of the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, which belong to Vietnam's sovereignty.

When contacted, Ninja Van Vietnam did not respond to the above issue. Meanwhile, Ms. Ying Ying Wu, Ninja Van's Southeast Asia communications representative, said that the company had received information related to the map content not showing the Paracel and Spratly Islands. Ms. Wu also confirmed that the company is using maps provided by Mapbox and OpenStreetMap, two partners.

"We are working with data providers to ensure that Hoang Sa and Truong Sa will be added to the map. At the same time, the company has removed the display of the map integrated on the website at present," Ms. Wu affirmed.

The representative did not comment further on the incident and did not provide a specific time frame for the parties to fix the shortcomings. In addition, Ninja Van has yet to make any other statements about using a map that lacks two archipelagos under Vietnam's sovereignty when providing services in this market.

On the part of Mapbox and OpenStreetMap, both assert that their services provide accurate addresses of locations around the world. On the OpenStreetMap website, the area that used to be Vietnam's Hoang Sa archipelago is annotated with the name "Tam Sa". Meanwhile, the names marked in the Truong Sa archipelago mainly use Chinese and place names given by this country, with only a small part labeled "Khanh Hoa Province".

Mapbox does not annotate the above two locations, only displaying the archipelagos without names. For the East Sea, this unit annotates "South China Sea".
