Former German Vice Chancellor becomes boss at Vietjet

(Dan Tri) - Mr. Philipp Rösler is a member of the Board of Directors of Vietjet, term until 2027. Previously, he worked at Vietravel Airlines.

Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (stock code: VJC) announced the appointment of Mr. Philipp Rösler as a member of the Board of Directors for the 2022-2027 term.

Mr. Philipp Rösler was born in 1973 in Vietnam and was adopted by a German couple when he was a child. He is said to have more than 30 years of experience in the economic field and has held many important positions in large corporations around the world.

He also served as German Minister of Health and Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics and Technology in the German Government. He has been out of politics for more than 10 years.

Prior to joining Vietjet, Mr. Philipp Rösler was an independent member of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines since October 2023. In this position, he was an advisor on the airline's strategic direction in expanding international cooperation; acting as a bridge between the airline and investors in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

In addition to appointing new members, Vietjet also dismissed Mr. Donal Boylan, Mr. Luu Duc Khanh, Mr. Chu Viet Cuong and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung from their Board of Directors positions. The company said the reason for the dismissal was to allow these leaders to move to the position of founding board members and advisors of the airline.

This year, Vietjet plans to have consolidated revenue of VND81,674 billion, up 13% over last year. Pre-tax profit of VND2,200 billion, up 21%.
