Banks in Ha Tinh proactively grasp the demand, ensuring cash supply with quantity and structure of denominations to serve the needs of people and businesses during the Lunar New Year.

Since the beginning of January 2024, the demand for exchanging small bills for payment, consumption, New Year gifts... of people and businesses at Agribank Ha Tinh Branch has increased dramatically compared to normal days.

To meet that need, the bank has planned to reserve enough denominations of money, especially bills from 5,000 - 50,000 VND to fully and promptly serve customers' needs.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Nguyet Anh - Deputy Head of Accounting - Treasury Department, Agribank Ha Tinh Branch, in addition to proactively preparing cash in advance, the branch has also developed a plan and proposed the State Bank of Vietnam Ha Tinh Branch to provide sufficient cash with the quantity and structure of various denominations to serve the needs of people and businesses.

Although recently, BIDV Ha Tinh Branch has had a strategy to encourage customers to use e-banking to move towards the goal of cashless payments as directed by the Prime Minister, however, near Tet, people's demand for exchanging small bills still increases.

Ms. Tran Thi Trang - Head of Customer Transaction Department, BIDV Ha Tinh Branch said: "Based on the needs of organizations, businesses and individuals when coming to make transactions, the branch has proactively implemented solutions to organize the work of regulating and supplying cash well, meeting the needs of the economy with appropriate volume and denomination structure during Tet. In addition, the branch also increased the arrangement of human resources to ensure that all customer transactions take place smoothly and conveniently".

At this time, the demand for cash exchange, especially small denominations at Bac A Bank Ha Tinh has also increased. Accordingly, the branch has proactively provided various denominations to serve the needs of customers at transaction counters as well as to provide cash replenishment services at the ATM system.

It is known that the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has issued Official Dispatch No. 01/CD-NHNN on ensuring the safety of banking operations during the 2024 Lunar New Year. The document requires credit institutions (CIs), foreign bank branches, and payment intermediary service providers to thoroughly and seriously implement the directions of the Secretariat, the Prime Minister, and the directions of the SBV on strengthening measures to ensure the 2024 Lunar New Year, so that units and people can celebrate the Lunar New Year in a healthy, safe, and economical manner.

In particular, the State Bank of Vietnam directed credit institutions to well organize the work of regulating, circulating and supplying cash, meeting the needs of the economy in terms of both value and denomination structure during the Tet holiday; ensuring security, safety of treasury and crime prevention and control in the monetary and banking sector. Credit institutions effectively implemented the provision of foreign exchange services, foreign currency collection and exchange to serve the needs of foreign tourists; strengthened coordination in inspection, promptly detected and strictly handled violations in the purchase and sale of foreign currency, gold and currency exchange not in accordance with the law.

In addition, the State Bank of Vietnam ensures adequate and timely supply of cash with the quantity and structure of denominations eligible for circulation for credit institutions to serve payment, salary payment, purchase and sale of goods during the Lunar New Year and people's daily expenses".
