On the evening of June 18, Mr. Lai Thanh An, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bac Lieu province, said that they are coordinating with relevant agencies to actively search for a missing fisherman in the waters of Ca Mau. According to Mr. Lai Thanh An, the unit has just received a document from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III regarding information on search and rescue at sea.
Accordingly, at about 2:30 a.m. on June 17, fishing boat BL-91305-TS, with 13 fishermen on board, the owner of which is Phan Hong Van, residing in Hoa Binh district (Bac Lieu province) was operating at a location about 52 nautical miles southwest of Rach Goc estuary, Ngoc Hien district (Ca Mau province), when it was discovered that fisherman Nguyen Van Chuong (50 years old, residing in Hoa Binh town, Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu) was not on board. The captain notified fishing boats operating near the area to assist in search and rescue. Around the area within a radius of 5 nautical miles, there were about 12 fishing boats operating to support surveillance and search for the missing fishermen, but with no results.
After receiving the information, the Border Guard Command of Bac Lieu province coordinated with the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces and relevant forces to organize and provide information on search and rescue. At the same time, notify fishing vessels operating near the area to assist in searching for the missing fishermen. Up to now, there has been no information about the missing fishermen.
