A brilliant and breakthrough season

The tournament is not only a top competition to find the national champion, but also an opportunity to promote the image of Gia Lai, a land rich in identity, to domestic and international friends.

The country’s top 125 professional and amateur golfers will compete in a 4-round, 18-hole stroke play format (72 holes in total). After the first 36 holes, the organizers will make the cut, selecting the 50 best male golfers and 12 best female golfers for the final two rounds. The winner is the golfer with the lowest gross score after 4 rounds.

During the inspection of the tournament organization before the tournament started, journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, co-head of the organizing committee met and talked with golfers participating in the tournament. Journalist Phung Cong Suong shared: “After 3 years of organizing in Vu Yen, Hai Phong , we decided to bring the 2025 National Golf Championship to Gia Lai province with the beautiful FLC Golf Links Quy Nhon golf course with the aim of bringing a new experience to golfers. Talking to golfers this morning, I learned that many golfers had come to the course nearly two weeks ago, showing their respect and serious preparation for the tournament.

Organizing the tournament far from Hanoi , we encountered many difficulties in the preparation process, from transportation to logistics. However, everything went well with the active preparation process, enthusiastic support from the provincial leaders and the smooth coordination of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Golf Association and related units. It can be affirmed that up to this point, everything is ready for the tournament and we are waiting for the first swings, the start of a successful season."

Mr. Nguyen Tien Danh - Director of FLC Golf Link said: “Previously, FLC Golf Links Quy Nhon has a lot of experience in organizing major tournaments, so we are very confident in hosting the National Golf Championship - Gia Lai 2025. To prepare for the tournament, we have comprehensively upgraded the course system to international standards. Every meter of grass and green shows our dedication. Hopefully, golfers and fans can feel our hospitality.

As for FLC Golf Links Quy Nhon, we consider this an opportunity to affirm our position on the Vietnamese golf map, at the same time act as a bridge for Quy Nhon - Gia Lai with domestic and international friends, as well as contribute to the development of golf in Gia Lai and across the country."

Opportunity to promote Gia Lai land and people

At the press conference on the same afternoon, journalist Phung Cong Suong emphasized three great meanings of the National Golf Championship when the tournament first came to Gia Lai. Firstly, the tournament has the meaning of discovering, honoring and becoming a platform for the journey of international conquest of talented young golfers. From here, many faces have affirmed their position not only domestically but also in the international arena.

Second, in the context of golf being a new sport in Vietnam, the tournament contributes to changing public perception of a sport with a history of more than 100 years in Vietnam. Golf is also the only sport closely linked to the economy, promoting community development. Currently, Vietnam has about 80 golf courses, while Japan and Korea have thousands of courses, showing that there is still a lot of room for development, especially in meeting the needs of international and domestic tourists.

Third, the tournament brings the breath of sport to the localities, joining hands to promote socio-economic development. Each time it is held, the tournament not only creates a top-notch sports playground, but also contributes to spreading the local image, from cuisine, landscape to cultural values to the community. Thereby, the tournament becomes an important bridge to promote tourism, especially golf tourism, contributing to bringing the image of Vietnam closer to international friends.

Athlete Nguyen Duc Son, the reigning men's champion of the 2024 National Golf Championship, showed his determination to defend his title: “This year's course is really difficult and challenging. I have had about 5 practice sessions, experiencing many different types of terrain to have the best preparation. My goal is to compete at the highest level possible, and I hope to bring a performance that will satisfy everyone.”
