22nd Armored Brigade: Proud of tradition, strict training, excellent training

Colonel Ngo Xuan De: The 22nd Armored Brigade was established on August 25, 1975 at Phu Dong base (now Hanh Thong ward, Ho Chi Minh City) in the formation of the 4th Corps. Although it was established after the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the predecessor units of the Brigade in the formation of the M26 - Armored Division of the Region participated in many battles, many campaigns and successfully completed the assigned tasks. The Brigade also participated in and successfully completed the task of protecting the southwestern border, as well as carrying out international missions to help Cambodia.

After that, although it went through many different names (regiment, brigade), the main task of the brigade was still combat readiness, training, building regular units, improving overall quality, focusing on educating soldiers, striving to study, practice and improve all aspects. By December 2024, due to new mission requirements, the unit was transferred to the Armored Corps.

After 50 years of building, fighting and growing up, wherever they are, whatever their tasks, generations of cadres and soldiers of the brigade have preserved and promoted the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, always united, attached, loved, helped each other, overcame all difficulties and challenges, raised the sense of responsibility, built the unit, and fulfilled well the assigned duties and tasks; thereby, building the tradition of "Solidarity, cooperation, proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance and determination to win". The brigade was honored to be awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State and many other noble awards.

Colonel Ngo Xuan De: The Party Committee and Command of the 22nd Armored Brigade have led and directed the synchronous and effective implementation of all aspects of work; in which, the training results have created many outstanding impressions. With the training characteristics of the Armored Corps, the achievement of 5 consecutive years of achieving "Excellent Training Unit" is the result of great determination, effort, and spirit of solidarity and collective achievement of the officers and soldiers.

The Brigade has trained according to the motto "Basic, practical, solid", focusing on synchronous and specialized training, close to the situation, combat plan and suitable to the organization, equipment and weapons. The unit focuses on basic and solid training from each person, each vehicle to the battalion level, focusing on the operation of weapons and equipment and combat coordination. At the same time, military training is combined with political education and traditional education, combined with training to build a regular order, discipline training and health training for soldiers. According to the annual inspection results, 100% of the subjects are good and excellent; in which, specialized subjects and the "3 explosions" test of new soldiers are excellent.

Colonel Ngo Xuan De: In the 2025-2030 term and the following years, the brigade is determined to continue to make breakthroughs in improving the quality of training, qualifications, combat readiness capabilities, and building a comprehensively strong unit that is "Exemplary, typical" in the direction of revolution, discipline, eliteness, and modernity in a solid manner. The unit always thoroughly grasps and seriously and effectively implements resolutions, directives, and orders from all levels on training work, especially Resolution No. 1659-NQ/QUTW dated December 20, 2022 of the Central Military Commission on improving the quality of training in the 2023-2030 period and the following years. Every year, the brigade strives to achieve the title of an excellent training unit; proactively researches and masters newly assigned weapons and equipment to meet mission requirements.

The Brigade continues to closely organize the Emulation Movement to Win, build and multiply advanced models associated with the implementation of the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers", implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo, Directive 87 of the Central Military Commission, creating a spread of positive factors, encouraging soldiers to strive to overcome difficulties, determined to complete all tasks well.

Colonel Ngo Xuan De: These days, the brigade's officers and soldiers are striving to compete in the peak "Raising the August Red Flag - Competing for the 3 Best" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, as well as competing towards the 50th anniversary of the brigade's traditional day (August 25, 1975 / August 25, 2025). The brigade's Party Committee has issued a thematic resolution on leadership to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding, identifying this as a broad political activity, marking the development and maturity of the brigade in the new situation; demonstrating the affection and responsibility of officers and soldiers towards the previous generations of fathers and brothers who built the brigade's tradition. Thereby, practically educating the profound tradition, arousing the will and aspiration to contribute of the young generation in the brigade to always compete to practice seriously, practice well, and have high combat readiness.

On this occasion, in addition to the main celebration, the brigade also organized a series of meaningful activities from traditional meetings, returning to the source, policy work, publishing a historical photo book of 50 years of the 22nd Armored Brigade, making a documentary film "50 years of glory on a journey" to cultural exchanges, wall newspaper competitions, flower planting, traditional camping and tradition discovery competitions... to create a vibrant and widespread competitive atmosphere. The ripple effect from the 50th anniversary celebration will create a strong driving force to contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Brigade Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term; at the same time, marking a new page in the history of the brigade when it is transferred to the Armored Corps.
