Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan - Director of the Department of Transport of Long An province - said that 2024 is a year of special importance in accelerating and breaking through to implement 3 key transport projects.
One of the first three key traffic projects completed is the Tan An City Ring Road. At the end of 2023, the first phase of the route was inaugurated, putting into use 23km of the road and 5 bridges with 4 lanes going around Tan An City . Mr. Tuan said that the project is currently completing settlement procedures.
With a total investment of more than 3,100 billion VND, a large part of the southwest of Tan An city has been opened up, helping to reduce the load on National Highway 1 and National Highway 62 passing through the city. It also provides more convenient connections for travel to Tien Giang province as well as the southwestern provinces in general.
The next key project under construction is Provincial Road 830E, from the intersection of Provincial Road 830 to National Highway 1. This is an important route in relieving the traffic pressure that is "compressed" in the center of Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district, the gateway city on National Highway 1 bordering Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, this route will join the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 in the future, playing an important role in connecting industrial parks and clusters, eastern districts of Long An province bordering Ho Chi Minh City and Hiep Phuoc Port (Ho Chi Minh City ), Long An International Port.
Currently, this project is under construction in phase 1 with 9.4km passing through Ben Luc and Can Duoc districts, including 2 parallel roads along the route, each with 2 lanes.
Site clearance work is also being carried out in parallel, with 787/878 cases paid for in the section passing through Ben Luc district. The Long An Provincial People's Committee has agreed on a plan to implement the section from National Highway 1 to the branch to DT.830 (coinciding with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4).
The third key project is Provincial Road 827E with a length of about 35.6km. This route will connect from Can Giuoc River, the border between Ho Chi Minh City and Long An at Long Hau Commune, Can Giuoc District to the border with Tien Giang Province at Hiep Thanh Commune, Chau Thanh District, Long An. When formed, the 6 lanes of Provincial Road 827E will be an important new driving axis, contributing to the connection between the East and West of the South.
One of the projects in the group of urgent and pressing works that has received great attention in 2024 is the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project through Long An. Started in June 2023, the project is 6.8km long with a total investment of VND 4,208 billion, including VND 3,040 billion for construction and VND 1,168 billion for site clearance, support, and resettlement.
Mr. Tuan said that up to now, the project has reached more than 51% of the construction progress, basically meeting the plan set out according to the Government's requirements.
Of which, the XL1 package for the construction of the main expressway route in the Km85+200 – Km88+766 segment has completed 41% of the total value of more than VND470 billion. The XL2 package for the construction of the Tan Buu bridge on the main expressway route, the parallel left branch and the parallel road from DT.830C to the intersection in the Km88+766 – Km90+472 segment has completed 50.1% of the total value of more than VND791 billion. The XL3 package for the construction of the final intersection in the Km90+472 – Km91+568 segment has completed 51.57% of the total value of VND432 billion.
The remaining two packages are the construction package for additional items at the end of the route and branches, the construction package for completing traffic safety works, lighting, fences, etc., which are currently completing input procedures.
“Currently, the project has no problems and is on track to complete and open to traffic on December 31, 2025. The final intersection connecting to the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway project is targeted to open to traffic by the end of October 2025,” said Mr. Tuan.
Regarding compensation and site clearance for the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project through Long An, Mr. Tuan informed that the resettlement area with a total cost of more than 90 billion VND and an area of 3.5 hectares in Tan Buu commune, Ben Luc district started construction in mid-June 2024. Currently, the site clearance has been 99% completed, the traffic route has been 90% completed, etc. The entire resettlement area project is expected to be completed and handed over in 2024, in sync with the progress of completion and occupancy of households.
In addition, another major project, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 through Long An, has also had important preparations when the consulting unit has completed the project's pre-feasibility study report. The Government has assigned the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as the competent authority to organize the completion of the overall project's pre-feasibility study report to submit to the Government.
Another urgent project, located in 21 planned locations connecting Long An with Ho Chi Minh City , is Provincial Road 823D. The project is 14.2km long, starting at the intersection with the new Northwest road at the Ranh Canal and ending at the intersection of National Highway N2 with Ho Chi Minh Road with a road surface of 4 lanes, 14m wide, 2 parallel lanes 7m wide, roadbed 32m-40m wide.
Currently, the contractor is carrying out the construction of sand, red gravel, crushed stone aggregate and constructing the drainage system, median strip, curbs and building two bridges, Kenh Ranh and Lang Ven culverts on the route. The Long An Provincial People's Committee also had a meeting, requesting Ho Chi Minh City to soon upgrade and complete the new Northwest road project connecting to this route.
