The VietStar waste-to-energy plant project is one of the key projects in the new era of waste management in Ho Chi Minh City. The plant is designed with a processing capacity of 2,000 tons/day, with a total investment of about 3,500 billion VND.
When the project is completed, together with the waste incineration plant project of Tam Sinh Nghia Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, it will help increase the rate of incinerated waste to nearly 50% of the total waste generated in the city today.
More importantly, this is not just a waste treatment plant, but an important step forward in the strategy of developing renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving the living environment.
Thereby ensuring urban energy security, in line with the sustainable development orientation of the whole country.
Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Nhu Hung Viet - General Director of VietStar Joint Stock Company - said that the unit has prepared for today for 10 years. The technology and machinery chosen are the most advanced.
"We commit to Ho Chi Minh City that the project will be completed as quickly as possible and will apply the best technology. We will work with the city to protect and build the environment," Mr. Viet affirmed.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Toan Thang said that as an advisory body for the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment is committed to continuing to accompany investors and businesses, creating favorable conditions for waste treatment projects to be implemented quickly, on schedule, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency.
"VietStar Joint Stock Company needs to seriously implement its commitments on construction progress, ensure project quality, and fully comply with environmental protection regulations, especially standards on emissions, wastewater, and noise according to the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 and related guiding documents.
At the same time, the company needs to closely coordinate with authorities to promptly remove difficulties, complete legal procedures, and ensure stable and safe operations," said Mr. Thang.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong affirmed that the city not only aims to treat waste, but also turn waste into resources. This will contribute to the circular economy, minimize negative impacts on the environment and create new values for society.

"I assign the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Construction and relevant units to continue to guide, support and closely monitor the implementation process. We must create the most favorable conditions for businesses while at the same time ensuring proper implementation of technological and environmental requirements.
In addition, the city is also studying incentive mechanisms and attracting investment to accelerate the progress of technology conversion at existing waste treatment plants. At the same time, forming a circular value chain in waste management, from collection, classification, treatment to reuse and renewable energy production," said Mr. Cuong.
