Groundbreaking ceremony of 500kV Hai Phong – Thai Binh transmission line project

This is a project registered by EVNNPT with the Government to simultaneously start and inaugurate 250 projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The project is a special-level energy project, invested by EVNNPT, NPMB is assigned to manage and operate the project, and Power Transmission Company 1 takes over the operation.

The 500kV Hai Phong - Thai Binh transmission line project is invested and constructed in the communes of An Quang, An Khanh, Quyet Thang, Lac Phuong, Nguyen Giap, Vinh Thinh (Hai Phong city); the communes of A Sao, Vinh Hoa, Minh Tho, Quynh Phu, Quynh An, Nguyen Du, Than Khe (Hung Yen province).

The project has a scale of building 2 new 500kV transmission lines, with a total length of 38.3 km. The starting point is the 500kV busbar of the 500kV Hai Phong transformer station, the ending point is the 500kV busbar of the 500kV Thai Binh transformer station.

Of which, the section through Hai Phong city is 18.7km long with 51 foundation positions and 22 corridor anchorages; the section through Hung Yen province is 19.6km long, with 48 column positions and 15 corridor anchorages.

The 500kV Hai Phong - Thai Binh transmission line project, after completion, will meet the goal of transmitting full and reliable power to the 500kV Hai Phong transformer station with a voltage level of 500kV. It will meet the load demand of Hai Phong city, Hung Yen province and neighboring areas in the coming period according to the N-1 criterion. It will improve voltage quality, reduce technical losses and strengthen connectivity and flexibly operate the 500kV transmission grid in the Northern region.

Speaking at the ceremony, EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu said: This is an important project to ensure electricity supply for Hai Phong city and Thai Binh province. This is a vibrant economic development area of the Northern Delta and has a fast electricity growth rate.

EVNNPT General Director requested units to strictly comply with technical and regulatory procedures during construction; well manage labor safety and hygiene, environment; and ensure the quality of construction works.

Construction units and supervision consultants are requested to strengthen and mobilize forces, closely coordinate with project management and operation units and related units to ensure quality and progress of construction, striving to complete power connection in the fourth quarter of 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.

The representative of the construction unit pledged to mobilize maximum resources to speed up the project's progress, and at the same time hoped that during the implementation process, the project would receive close coordination from local authorities and people whose projects pass through in site clearance so that the contractor could speed up the progress and meet the electricity needs of localities in the area.
