Ms. Lien and her husband will bring their mother and 2 children here for 3 days and 2 nights, to experience hot mineral springs and Japanese-style relaxation.

“A few months before Tet, my husband and I were very busy with business. Therefore, we consider Tet to be a time to rest and recharge. This is also an opportunity for our children to have a long break from school, making it convenient for trips,” said Ms. Lien.

For the past 5 years, Ms. Lien's family has been traveling during Tet. Last year, the whole family went on vacation to Hoa Binh, then went to Phu Quy Island to experience Tet. They prioritize resorts and hotels with full amenities and services to avoid overcrowding.

Ms. Hang Bui’s family (Hanoi) also has the habit of traveling during Tet. She and her husband have twice driven their parents and children across Vietnam to resorts… “My family believes that wherever there is family, there is Tet,” Ms. Hang said.

According to many travel agencies, the demand for Tet travel among Vietnamese tourists is increasing, especially among young tourists and families of 2 or 3 generations. They are looking for a complete vacation or exploring new lands instead of "crazy" about cleaning and eating during Tet.

Statistics from Vietluxtour travel company show that the number of customers booking Tet tours increased by 25% compared to 2024. The main group of customers came from big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Best Price Company also recorded a 30% increase in the number of customers booking Tet tours.

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of Best Price, tour prices during Tet holiday increased by 10-15%.

For domestic itineraries, tourists prefer tours to experience the cold air of the North such as Sa Pa, Moc Chau, Ha Giang, Hanoi. In the Central region, Da Nang and Hoi An are still attractive destinations.

With foreign tours, Thailand and China dominate, along with Japan, Korea and Australia.

“Tours to Thailand departing on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd days of Tet have a very high booking rate, priced at around VND11 million per person. Tours to Shanghai and Taiwan (China), customers usually depart before Tet, around the 27th day of the lunar calendar, priced at around VND20 million per person,” said Mr. Tu.

With China tours, customers prioritize air tours instead of road tours like other times of the year.

Skiing experiences are especially popular with Vietnamese tourists, so tours such as Chongqing - Jiuzhaigou - Jiaguoshan skiing, Chongqing - Jinfoshan skiing, and Qiaozi Mountain skiing have high occupancy rates early on.

Domestically, many travel companies have invested in renewing and diversifying tour products at familiar destinations to serve the increasing needs of tourists.

For example, with the Hoi An resort tour, Thien Minh tourism group has put into operation the experience of riding a sidecar to play at Cau Bong festival in Tra Que. Tra Que vegetable village has just been recognized by UN Tourism as the “Best Tourist Village” in 2024.

Chau Doc (An Giang) tour introduces the experience of making ao dai quickly, and Can Tho river tour adds the product of going on a night cruise.

This Tet holiday, Vietravel has chosen to introduce many green tours and routes, with activities for the environment and community, helping tourists not only travel but also contribute to nature conservation.

For example, in Ninh Binh, there will be a journey connecting tourists with tree planting activities, the experience of “bringing animals home”, learning about rescue and conservation of primates; exploring Van Long lagoon - known as the “bay without waves”...

Meanwhile, Vietluxtour operates routes from old Saigon to present Ho Chi Minh City, and Saigon Special Forces tours for visitors to experience culture, history, and cuisine right in the city.

“To meet the increasing demands of customers, we design our own products, 'tailored' to their needs and tastes instead of mass tours,” said Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu, Director of Marketing and Communications Department of Vietluxtour.

A family of 3 generations rented a 'mobile home' and traveled through Tet for 40 million VND . Ms. Trang's family traveled more than 2,000km, exploring from Hanoi to Quang Nam with a "mobile home" during the Tet holiday of Giap Thin. The trip was a journey to turn a long-time dream into reality for 7 members.
