During the Chol Chnam Thmay festival, Mrs. Thi Nam's family, as well as many households in Ba Ven hamlet, Loc Khanh commune, Loc Ninh district, prepare about 20-25 banh tet cakes to celebrate the traditional New Year.
Besides savory cakes, Mrs. Thi Nam also prepares sweet black bean cakes.
At 65 years old, Ms. Thi Be wants to teach her children and grandchildren how to wrap banh tet so that her people's culture will not be lost.
And banh tet is an indispensable offering on the tray of offerings to Buddha and ancestors during Tet to report the year's achievements and pray for a new year of favorable weather and bountiful crops.
From 150 kg of sticky rice, 60 kg of green beans and pork prepared by Soc Lon Pagoda, Khmer people gathered together to wrap banh tet with the traditional Tet flavor.
Making banh tet is one of the good traditions, bringing the Khmer ethnic minorities closer together, together preserving the good cultural values of the nation.
With ingredients such as sticky rice, green beans, pork or black beans, coconut, etc., Khmer people skillfully wrap Tet cakes with a rich rustic flavor.
