Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a Decision to promulgate the 2025 - 2026 school year schedule plan for Preschool Education , General Education and Continuing Education in the city.

Accordingly, the school opening day for the 2025-2026 school year in Can Tho City is arranged according to each grade level.

Grade 1 students will return to school on August 25; Kindergarten and Primary school will start on August 28.

For secondary school, students in grades 9 and 12 will return to school earlier on August 22. The remaining grades of secondary school, high school and continuing education will return to school on August 29.

The opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year at all schools in Can Tho City took place on September 5.

Semester I of the school year for Preschool and Primary schools from September 8, 2025 to before January 10, 2026 (18 weeks of actual study); Secondary, High School, and Continuing Education from September 8, 2025 to before January 17, 2026 (18 weeks of actual study, the remaining time is for other activities).

Semester II of Kindergarten and Primary School from January 12, 2026 to before May 23, 2026 (17 weeks of actual study, the remaining time is for other activities); Secondary School, High School, Continuing Education from January 19, 2026 to before May 31, 2026 (17 weeks of actual study, the remaining time is for other activities)

The Director of the Department of Education and Training is assigned to direct all levels of education and seriously implement the 2025-2026 school year schedule for Preschool, General Education and Continuing Education in the city.

At the same time, the decision was made to give students temporary leave during days of inclement weather and natural disasters, and to arrange make-up classes and ensure teachers' right to rest according to regulations.

At the beginning of the new school year, the Department of Education and Training is responsible for advising and submitting to the Chairman of the City People's Committee on extending the school year, no more than 2 weeks compared to the general curriculum framework.
