With the help of Vietnamese authorities, the girl H'Man Nie (in Ciet village, Ea Tieu commune, Cu Kuin district) has just returned to her village and relatives after a series of days of wandering in Malaysia and Thailand.

Previously, although her family was well-off, H'Man Nie still dreamed of a rich life abroad.

At the end of 2024, at the invitation of a friend, H'Man pawned his family's SH motorbike for 60 million VND to go to Malaysia as a tourist and then stayed there to find a high-paying job.

However, the brokers kept all her personal documents, forced her to work hard and even refused to pay her wages. Knowing that she had been tricked, H'Man wanted to go home but did not have the money and documents to complete the procedures. She searched for and contacted the brokers to hire her to go by road - in their words, "buy the road" - to go home via the Malaysia - Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam route at an expensive cost.

H'Man had to call home to ask her mother to send money to pay the guides. However, as soon as she arrived in Thailand, she was arrested by local authorities, tried for illegal entry, and taken to a detention facility.

Fortunately, Vietnamese authorities were aware of H'Man's situation; thereby, they worked with Thai authorities to carry out procedures for H'Man to return to his village and relatives.

Now that she has returned home, H'Man Nie can breathe a sigh of relief and is no longer worried. She said: “In Malaysia, my employer said he would pay me 30 million VND/month but he didn’t. I worked for 2 months without getting paid, and then they took my passport and papers. They said it would take 3 to 4 months to get a new passport. But the work was so hard that I couldn’t wait any longer, so I asked my mother to send me money to “buy my way” back home. When I got back to Thailand by road, I was arrested by the Thai police.” H’Man estimates that the amount of money lost during her recent wandering trip was around 100 million VND.

As for H'Man's family, from the moment they heard that their daughter had been tricked and was wandering and helpless in Malaysia and then being arrested by the Thai police, everyone was worried. When their daughter returned home safely, H'Man Nie's mother emotionally expressed: "We are very happy to see our daughter brought home and are grateful to the provincial and commune authorities. Now the family will advise her to stay home and focus on her work, not to go abroad again."
