Tons of purple clams washed ashore in Ha Tinh

On the evening of April 7, Mr. Bui Dinh Lam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Hai Commune (Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh Province) said that tons of purple clams (also known as purple clams) naturally drifted from the open sea to the coastal area of Bac Hai village, in this commune, many of which were still alive.

According to initial information, from around 3pm on April 7, strong waves washed ashore a large number of purple clams (including live purple clams and shells) along the coast of Bac Hai village, stretching about 600m and 3-6m wide. The estimated quantity is about 5-7 tons.

At this time, when the incident was discovered, many people from other localities were visiting and swimming in Thach Hai beach and people in Thach Hai commune quickly brought plastic bags, sacks, buckets, plastic baskets, plastic trays, and other tools and rushed to the beach to pick up the live purple clams to bring back for use or to give away...

According to Mr. Bui Dinh Lam, purple clams drifting along the coast of this locality is a normal natural phenomenon. Previously, around October 2023, purple clams naturally drifted sporadically along the coast in Thach Hai commune and some neighboring localities of Thach Ha district, but the number was smaller than this time.
